View Full Version : Work on your 200's - Where??
Where does everyone do their work on their 200's??
i lucky enough to have friends that have 2 post lifts, nice large warm garages, compressors & all the tools that you could dream of, but for the most part i do my work on my drive ( as the garage is full of sh1t) luckiy its well out the way so i dont get random pedestrians walking past
which is fine unless it rains/ is cold/ is dark (and it normally is)
just wondered where everyone else throws spanners at cars??
if i had a proper workspace id have soooo much more done to the car..
I have to do all the work on my 205 parked in a communal carpark 50m from the house and 10m from the garage (which is too small to be able to work on a car in it even if it was empty).

Me and Theory have a driveway with a small garage. Not big enough to fit a 200sx in (too long) but keeps the limited tools we have. If we need anything we just pop down to Halfrauds. It's like our toolbox.
I'm lucky in that I have a nice long driveway (even if it is usually clogged up with cars and re-arranging them can be fun)...
thats when I don't go down to visit God

Usually the parent's driveway. Over the winter this was not fun :( .
Got seriously soaked and frozen doing the fuel lines and subframe for the January MOT.
Makes it hard to do any bodywork in the wet season too.
I voted garage
but not in your sense of the word
it's a london underground parking garage with lots of light. always empty after 10pm .. and covered! :) and miles of space.
Alternatively my own driveway during the day.
me and dad are classic car nuts so we have built what is known as "grandads retreat"
big arse garage with upstairs
water,electrics,heating...... ramp ,air line, pitt, big sound system
upstairs theres a pool table and a ps2 .....and a little workshop place with a big drill
its very cool...... if you need to find my dad... he will be there :D
We use our garage esp with the weather up here in scotland :D
Just ur basic garage at the moment but lots of work taking place to try and make it a lot more car work friendly :)

I'm lucky to blag space in my Friends Garage, thanks John. (see story in V8 update). I have my own garage/ workshop but he's got ramps, Plus the burger van is nearer to his garage.
Before I had the garage, I built a kit car (from Plans) in the open, at my parents house, took 3 years, Brill parents - nasty neighbours!

I've always worked in a massive unit (thanx dad) but now he has let it go as he don't use it no more, gutted.
So now i work in the rain on my drive by the road :(
Don't matter where i work i still get the work done.
Even though i havent got a sx yet i voted.... :wack:
I work on my car in the road as my parents dont have a drive or garage
The only criteria when i get a house is a garage and drive, i dont even care what the house is like  :D

I use the side of the road :(. one of the last times I worked on my car, I was removing the diff, I had the car up on ramps, managed to remove the casing, and went inside for a cuppa.. as I did this, some stupid feckin cow in a renault people carrier pulled u next door, got out, went next door to pick her kids up, which is all great, apart from the fact she didn't feel it necessary to put the handbrake on , I came out to find her french peice of toss, had rolled backwards into my car, nearly knocking it off the ramps, and I was only under the car about 20 minutes before hand :indiff: I need a garage
Sisters Garage .. with sort of half a pit.. she wants to start charging me rent, I'm there every other weekend for a day, or both, and when she goes on holiday I dog sit, use her car and take mine to pieces to do one insignificant job or another ... painting calipers is next :p
Road, or tanj's driveway ;)
When I get a house... garage is an essential

bits of K-seires and v8 rover lumps?
i have the upmost respect for anyone that works on ther car on the side of the road.. i find it hard enough to do it on the driveway, when its sunny its ok, but i end up just sitting on my old drivers seat thats now used as my sun-lounger drinking beer, discussing what i am going to do when i get up.... :indiff:

Mainly T series bits, now with CA18 bits aswell and shitloads of tools. He has a tool for everything now :D
The Rover V8's are mainly in one of the 2 lockups he has in addition to the garage. Now thats a proper petrol head!
