View Full Version : rover engine built but something strange
ive just finished building and have fitted/started running in the "400bhp rover" lump but ive noticed something strange before the engine would only start to boost at around 3500rpm and pull hard at 4300rpm on the t3 this was with the cams dialled in to give some more low down grunt, but now bear in mind its running in so 3000rpm max and no hard engine loads it started to boost at 2500 rpm?
the cams arent dialed in and set to standard, when it was like that before it boosted really late nearly 5000rpm, the only difference apart from the cam timing is the engine is totaly clean and is running alot lower compression 7.26-1.
have you guys any thoughts on why this might be as it has intreged me
Sideways Danny

well done Roy
So what sort of boost control are you using? i've heard that Dawes devices cause earlier spool as the wastegate is totally shut until set level is seen.
It could just be you're too bloody clever for your own good and have built far too good an engine

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha aha i would like to think im to clever sometimes, hes running an apexi avc/r but its off cause its running in bloody wierd if you ask me would the compression make a difference being as low as it is, i wouldnt have thought so because the volumetric effiency has been greatly reduced by the low compression, so if anything it would lag up more
C'mon Roy, remember my Alpine specs I used to go on about! Normally, the lower the compression, the more your peak torque moves down the rev range. More torque at lower revs, more exhaust gas, less lag..thats why the A610 spins up at 2000 on a big T3 with 7.6:1

jesus dave i didnt know you surfed the sxoc, you know what your right i forgot all that stuff we talked about  that t3 colins rover is running has warped the manifold AGAIN! theres a little tick noise when driving it
ps ive done that cd for you with the alpine pics and vids on ill try and drop it off tommorrow
