We just started up a 3-car projekt in our garage here at PBZ - Sweden (www.PerformanceByZ.se).
We're rebuilding one R33 GT-R V-Spec, one Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evo1 (red) and one Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evo2 (black).
The Skyline is being built to be a fast road/track car. The red Evo, wich is a customer car is going to be built only for doing fast 1/4-mile runs on track/street. This project will be built in two stages because of shortage of time. There is a big racing cup on the streets in Sweden called "Birka Cup". The Evo1 will participate in this event wich starts in about 1½ weeks from now.
More about Birka Cup:
From the beginning, this cup was started as a protest to the closing of a big 1/4-mile track in Stockholm. Now the popularity has grown and we have 8s-cars participating in this racing event that is run on the streets around Stockholm.
Here's a trailer from the DVD from last years event:

High Quality: http://cosworth.mine.nu/mull/birkatrailer/birkadvd-trailer.hq.avi
The black Evo2 will be built to do fast 1/4-miles, but will also have modified suspension etc. for trackdays.
Our hopes are that the Skyline should make somewhere around 600hp, the red Evo1 at stage 1 aound 400hp, but after this season it's getting rebuilt completely and no specific goals nore restrictions are set for the project for now. The black Evo2 will hopefully make around 500hp when it's ready.
Here's some pictures from the garage with three Evo's and our Cossie lined up: http://www.performancebyz.se/bilder/Projekt/PICT0012.JPG

Here's a pic from the black Evo2. We have already fitted a 500+hp turbo in it. Exhaust manifold, downpipes etc.. will all be changed to performance part.

Here's the Skyline that we're building:

The story with the Skyline is a long one and very unfortunate. In August last year we ran some cars on a flight strip for some interviews and articles for a couple of online auto-sites. It was a very hot day and just at the end of the day, a rough ticking noise came out of the Skyline engine. After a visit to a well-reputed garage, we came to the conclusion that the fault has to be with the tappets in the head. The head was seperated, totally rebuilt and reconditioned, and everything was eventually put back together. Due to lack of time, this took about 6 months. Finally we started up the car... exactly the same ticking noise as before was there again! :( So now we're going through everything and will try to make it more or less bullet-proof.
Here's were we start off, with uprated original turbo's, bigger exhaust port manifolds, but otherwise, more or less original.

Head off and one turbo & manifold off.

The heap of Skyline-parts keep rising :)

Our garage's watch dog. Beware, very wild and crazy ;)

We found traces of what could be the problem in the oil pan:

Somewhere in there, we should find the source to the problem:

Original bearings, not in the best condition:

The one to the right is totally wasted, the one to the left... I don't have a word for:

This is how far we have come in the project. What's left now is more or less the fun part of the project, fitting the engine with yummies :)
We're thinking about going with Crower rods and Wiseco pistons. As for cams, we're planning on running on Tomei ones. Wich duration and lift we should use has not been planned yet. We could need some expert opinions. We want very fast responce, that's what we have decided so far. The turbo's will probably be a pair of GT2540's.
Anyone has an oil-cooler for sale? If anyone of you has anything that you think we might need for the engine/car, don't hesitate to contact me at arash@performancebyz.se.
The Skyline project has come to a break right now because we're waiting for parts, the block is getting reconditioned etc. Now all efforts will be put to have the red Evo1 ready for Birka!
I'll keep you guys updated with the projects as they proceed. I'll greatly apprechiate tips and advice and that you share of your experience. Regarding the Skyline, I don't have any experience at all so the more info we get, the better.
I'll be back ;)

Arash
