I am using an ADSL modem with a USB connection to my PC (PC1), and its working fine. But is it possible to use the NIC on this PC(pc1) and the NIC on another PC(pc2), via a crossover cable, and be able to access the internet via the USB connected modem?

I am guessing the problem is going to be when i try to give PC2 a valid IP address on the same Subnet as PC1, which will be determined by the ISP, and this is why ppl get ADSL routers?

yes you can.

the problem is your reliance on PC1 and ICS if that's what you will use... you may have problems doing stuff more complicated than browsing on PC2. routers are much more competent than this method...
