View Full Version : Any physiotherapists here?
I'm after some exercise advice for a specific medical condition. Unfortunately Lloyds stopped doing private medical insurance 2 months ago and I didn't hurry to find a new company :annoyed: :annoyed: so I am now at the mercy of the NHS    and not expecting anything soon.
I would be really grateful for any professional medical advice. :)

I'm not but my ex (who I'm still good mates with) is (or will be in a couple of weeks) - if you want to drop me a pm then I can act as a go-between although i'll totally understand if you don't want to dispense your medical history to a non-medical bloke. :)
Unless it's about a knee then I'll probably be able to answer myself

Sorry to jump in on this thread but...
Do you know of amy websites that give good exersizes for stengthening knees?
I got some leaflets from Physio a while back but lost them :annoyed:
Iam always having prob's with my knee's because they are really weak :(
Thanks Gaz
I can deal with knee problems too
It's nothing highly personal but I don't think we can discuss personal issues anymore so you have PM.

When you say your knees are weak, what exactly do you mean? What do they do wrong?
Just had a look at the leaflets that we have here for knee exercises. Basically they just involve strengthening your hams and your quads.
sitting in a chair, repeatedly raise your leg to straight, hold for a few seconds, and then down again.
Back against a wall, slide your back slowly down the wall until you're in a sitting position; hold it, then slowly up again.
Up and down on a step repeatedly
TBH, these are more aimed at grannies, I think. :wack: If you're not that bad ;) then just going to a gym would probably help more :)
Bad knees run in the family... tried normal expersize to build them up with no luck, even though my quads are much stronger than they were b4. Main probs is that i have little lateral support on my knees. I cant stand straight on one leg because the knee flex's side to side!
Wont go to the gym though, what with work, house refurbing and fixing the car i hardly have enough time to fart! (plus it expensive!)
Oh yeah, i cant do that wall exersize.. i can lower myself down but not get back up again after about 2 reps :annoyed:
