Hi
Im still unsure whether to buy a Skyline R32 GTS (Rwd) or a 3rd Gen RX7, Ive read the advise on the Skyline, but now I need some on the RX7.
Are they fitted with a LSD as std? Has anyone ever used one for drifting? Are they pretty good drift cars?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Yeh I used one for the last rounf last year.
Loads better than the crap S14 I used last round.
They have a torsen diff as standard, its pretty good so it would seem. My only comparison here is between a stock S14 and a lightly tuned FD.
I have heard they arnt the easiest cars to drift, but im not going to bother with the S14 again as it needs to much work to make it any good, and the rx7 starts much closer.
If I were you however, id probably just get a 32GTS - I tried and couldnt get insured but an FD was ok :wack:
Trouble with RX7's is if something goes wrong, theres not too many places that can fix it so you will wait ages. Its just taken me about 4-5 weeks to sort my engine out for what wasnt too much more than a days work in the end. The other problem is parts. With a 200, on here theres loads available. If you prang an RX7 and damage the bonnet for example, then goodluck. Would cost a few quid to replace an S13 one, for an RX7 your going to need £200 and thats if you are lucky enough to find a 2nd hand stock one. If you cant, then say bye to about £600 and so on with other parts.
And think about single figure MPG. It costs me almost the same just to drive to Silverstone as to compete in D1.
Still, its great most the time and I cant think of much to replace it with

Oi stop dissing my old car Lee, you know you love it really  ;)
Don't forget, it's not completely standard either - it has uprated KYBs... imagine how poor it'd be with stock shocks :wack:
ps. I'll be seeing you on mazdarotaryclub, I'm buying a FD

Im not dissing your old car, just S14s in general ;) Car has done a good job for me, and now the FD has a puncture too driving it back from being sorted :indiff:
Might still keep the S14 yet - still undecided. It almost pays for itself in fuel saving!
I saw your post on MRC, was going to say hi but think I was in the middle of building the engine, have been busy this week. I am J4P RX on that forum...
Cheers
Lee
you rebuilt the engine yourself?
I must admit, one of the plus points in buying a FD is my location, being on the south coast I'm very near RX motors, Re:worx and sterte garage. I'm certainly not going to use it as an everyday car, something I'm sure you could easily with a 200 or a R32

Nah, but I helped do it. Went down to Geff at ReWorx and he sorted out all the internal bits :wack:
Didnt look too hard though to be honest, if I had tools and space id give it a go in the future. Worrying when you think you get too confident :wack:
Sterte Garage are just a car dealer type thing. They wont do any work on the cars themself, but being near RE Worx and RX Motors would be handy. They arnt too complex though unless you need something on the engine itself sorting...

You can help rebuild mine when it rolls off the boat then ;) :wack:
Ant at Sterte garage has been extremely helpful over the past couple of days and he's just down the road from me which is handy for jobs I can't do :)

Have you actually got one then?
If so get over to MRC and give us pics and a spec :D
I'm pretty certain I'm going to get the silver '93 type R(1) off rising sun imports... Didn't fancy a silver initially but it's low mileage, excellent conditiona and a reasonable price.
Just waiting for interior piccies... One small problem - it's still in Japan
there seem to be quite a few of us over on the MRC now :D
mmmmmm rotarys :D :D
