I have at the moment 205/45/17's on Boss XTR alloy wheels they are ET40 offset and where on the car when i bought it.

What size should i go for and what offset as at the moment they sit miles away from the arch and about 2mm away from the strut.

I need to know as i'm thinking of selling these and getting some more 17 or 18 (don't know whats best for drifting tbh).

I need them to work with the shocks i'm getting "Tein HE"

Any advice or links apreciated.

i want a deep dish wheel :smitten: (love blitz rims, but not paying blitz prices, lol)

after consulting a few magazines, it appears that a 15x10 SSR reverse mesh with -22 offset would be a good choice:)

I'm more interested in what size and offset i shoud go for.

is it worth running a wider rim on the rear? different offset to the front ect.

Any gen

If youre buying a wheel from the UK (ie not imported from another country, available on the shelf readily), you can basically forget about having a nice fit and choices of width and offset.

15x7 0 offset front and a 15x7 -5 offset at the back in a Longchamp XR4 Variety is nice.. 17x9 +17 offset is good. 15x10 -22 offset is better. Add Z-car style fender bolt on flares and away you go, looking sexy. A Buddy Club P1 isnt bad really, quite cheap and available in a few sizes.. Your options are limited by stud pattern as well...

My only problem is that i can't go any smaller then 17s because of the size of my rotors on the front.

when you say 15x7 is that 15 ich rim with J7 wide?

I know what you are saying about fittment as mine is only 4 stud, but its not worth changing to 5 stud because my front brakes would be usless. :(

I know i'm being dumb but would -22 offset on the rear fit?? ET40 is very close at the moment and i've had to spacer them out 5mm to clear the calipers.

So you think 17 not 18 inch wheels?

I need to start looking into what wheels i want, i don't care what they look like as long as they are the right offset and make the car feel more staible.

10j -22 offset would stick out of your arches by atleast 4 inches, you would need bolt on flares to run those, and any wheel in this size would literally cost thousands... So id avoid those :)

I myself prefere 17" on an S13 but thats just me. What ever you buy, 17x9 should be something you aim for but like i said, 4 stud limits options. 215 front and 225 rear is supposed to be a nice fast setup.. Anyways, some pics and sizes (all subjective to camber and you care about doing arch work/re-routing your front harness etc):

These are the equivalent of 17x9 +10 Offset (Clearly, GTR's dont come in +10 Offset but these are spaced out to achieve that size) The arches will need a bit of work with this size and camber will need to be greater than stock up front. Im not sure what tyre size is but i can find out. This is the more "hardcore" fitment with alot of work needed to fit.

17x9 +10

These are Front 17x8 +22 215/45/17 and Rear 17x9 +27 235/40/17 in the Buddy Club P1, all available to fit 4 lug in those sizes. They arent quite gonna run flush up front when more camber is added but the differance could probably be spaced out to look good. Not quite sure why the profile is 45 on the front and 40 on the back, often its the other way around. This is a somewhat safer setup by all accounts.

Anyway, hope that gives you a few idea's on what to look for..

I must admit i would like to get some of those Buddy Club P1's, they look nice, are light and don't cost the earth. I reckon that there needs to be more second hand rims imported from Japan for us to play with.

Do you have anymore pictures of the side of this one?

so what i'm sure on now is that i will be getting a 17inch rim with 215/?/17 Front and 235/?/17 Rear.

What i'm still unsure of is what offset these wheels come in and what will fit my 4 stud patten :wack:

Option do Buddy Club, SRB can probably get em, www.nightspeeduk.com (dont know how good they are, dont know about reputation) and Envy Performance can get em, although his prices for Buddy Club seem a bit higher than others... I think. I want commision from the sale! :D

Buddy Club are a cheap wheel on the scale of things. From what i can gather the 8 wide are around £240 and the 9 wide are about £250. Available in 3 colours.

One place just e-mailed me back, £150 for the rear rims (EACH) and £145 for the front rims (EACH)

Thats like £590 (that don't include the tyres)

They say its going to be about £200 to ship them. What do you think, should i give credit card details? :wack:

I hope you are all right about them fitting  :p :p :smash:

Sometimes you get stung for Tax when they get here, sometimes you dont. Ask the shop to put them down as a "Gift", that sometimes helps.

You sure the company is reputable, make sure cus i dont wanna hear any "ripped" off stories.. :( Price sounds fine to me! A decent fitting wheel for under a grand? Not bad...

I doubt you could get away with such a big package without getting caught for tax and duties. If it is put down as a gift under the value of 50quid or so you should get no tax at all, bit difficult on a package that size though. Also if it is labelled as a warranty replacement you can get away without any tax. Otherwise add about 25% on to the declared value in fees to add on when they get here.

Your best bet is to speak to the supplier and see what they are willing to do. And remember, whatever you declare the value as, you will only get insurance for. It is a risk you have to decide how much you are willing to possibly loose

Thats why Kiki's old RS13 had like 20mm spacers on it. Bad size and offset. I know some people who are S13 wheel size "otaku" and they would spit their E-dummy if anyone bought wheels in that size.. haha they are hilarious.

Wouldnt have thought so. The front would be Ok but the rear would sit in too much.

30 all round on an 8" wheel would be OK.

Paz, just looked up otaku on this (http://www.urbandictionary.com/) site. Some of the other terms are funny as fook. :D

With my 17 (7.5J) there are very close to the strut and they are ET40 offset, with ET27 on a 9 inch rim it will only be 6mm closer to the strut.

With a ET38 9 inch rim its going to be 16mm closer, thats going to hit the strut.

And with Coilovers, 16x8 35 offset does hit coilovers. Anyway, i asked those guys about those suggested sizes and here is what they came up with:

"8j is too skinny and +32 +38 is way to high offsets"

"I wouldn't touch a 8 +32... In an 8" it would have to be something between a 0 and +10 offset to be good for me"

"i have 18x9 +12 all the way around lol"

"I have 8j +32 :( its teh ghey"

"As for those ****ing sizes. Horse shit. Yeah a conservative size and offset wheel should be reccomended by a shop who caters to lots of general enthusiasts. Seriously drifting with wide wheels and low offset make syour track so much wider and your drifts way more stable. Totally different feel. I love it. I maintain that 17x9 +10 all round on an S13 is nearly perfect with stcok fenders and slight modification."

A good point was made however:

"they suggest that size because it is "safe". if "johnny drifter" buys some low offset wheels that a company suggests then the wheels rub, then johnny drifter will return them, get mad, sue , talk trash on the internet to anyone that will listen to them, or whatever disgruntled customers do. That is why they suggest those sizes"

So yeah, go forth and buy good fitting wheels :D

So, just before i order the wheels on monday, with the sizes that you sugested "Front 17x8 +22 215/45/17 and Rear 17x9 +27 235/40/17 in the Buddy Club P1, all available to fit 4 lug in those sizes " i will not need spacers, right?

No spacers needed (unless you wanna flush the rims out a bit more, 6mm is safe on the front, not sure about the rear).

With those sizes will the arches need rolling, or will any other worki need doing? Also will the studs need changing? I'm just curious as i have no idea about wheels.
