View Full Version : Kill Bill
Is this film any good - I was considering watching it before going to bed but if it's only mediocre I won't bother.
Is it classic Tarantino or just hyped beyond proportion???
Whatched it on Friday, need to whatch it again, too many Stella's for a movie that jumping all over the place, the Manga bits are
Get it whatched.
Absolutely brilliant IMO

look forward to kill bill vol. 2
which i thought was due out in February, wasn't it?? not heard anything about it since
loved the first part, don't understand why they made it into 2 films, especially with so many long films released recently, it's not like no-one would have gone to see it.
Well I tried watching it last night but wasn't really concentrating properly and in the end I got lost with it especially when it suddenly turned into a cartoon  so I'll have to devote an evening to watching it properly later in the week.

Vintage Tarantino. I really enjoyed it - despite the fact it kinda feels like a film school essay. You'll know what I mean when you watch it.

It's a brilliant film. But, as with Pulp Fiction. You'll either love it or hate it.

Bought this yesterday and watched it for the first time last night. Now Im not really a Tarantino fan, but OMG
This is one of the best films I have seen since City of God and I am fully intending on watching it again very soon.
You really get the impression that Tarantino loves Kung Fu movies and has studied them very carefully - anyone else who loves that genre can immediatley see where some of the camera shots come from and the music is superb. The whole film seems not to take itself too seriously while at the same time dealing with some shocking subject matter (rape, revenge, killing infront of children) but a warning, if you prefer seeing peoples limbs attached rather than flying across the room, or have a strong aversion to "claret" this isnt for you!!
The best thing though is how it leaves you wanting more so badly. I cant wait for Vol II now ! ;)

This is one of the best films I have seen since City of God
A man of good taste, one of my fav films of all time. The DVD has a good few extras IIRC.
Dunc.
I can confirm that Kill Bill 2 is every bit as good as the 1st one
Watched it last night, just as bloody :wack:

Snap!!
I watched it on Friday while a little worse for wear...
Typical Tarrantino film, definitely worth a look...if you like his stuff you'll enjoy it.

Is Bill dead yet?

Typical Tarrantino film I disagree. :) Prior to Kill Bill, Tarantino has been associated primarily with films containing fine dialogue (True Romance, Res Dogs, Pulp Fiction). This is the main trait of his that has been copied by others. He has also been secondarily associated with violent films, mainly by the media.
Kill Bill is a departure from his previous films, in that it is a self-indulgent action movie, full of references to all of the film culture that he loves - Manga, Spaghetti westerns, Kung-fu, martial arts, etc. The dialogue (and to an extent the acting) take a back seat in favour of the appearance, the action, and the cultural accuracy.
Pulp Fiction was about him playing with different structures of storytelling. Reservoir Dogs was about storytelling with flashbacks. Kill Bill uses a similar structure, but in a poorer manner - he chops the film into main sections, and alters their orders, but without the sharing of supporting characters you get in Pulp Fiction.
F*cking top film, is Kill Bill :D Can't wait for vol. 2

Well just make sure you do watch it properly this time.
It's a brilliant film and I can't wait to see Kill Bill 2

Just watched Kill Bill vol.1 (I know, I am a bit behind), and I can't believe that no one has brought this up before...
What is the car that Sophie Fatale drives in Japan? Could it be an S15? Didn't really get a chance to study it, and am not an S15 expert, but could someone who has it on DVD confirm?
Maybe QT ought to be an honorary member of the SXOC....
It's a 300ZX if I remember correctly.
I bought KillBill1 on DVD and fcuking loved it. It went straight into my top 5 ever films. Went and saw Killbill2, ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING  :notworthy. Much more dialogue than the first but just sooo good.
Dave
Hmmm...yeah, just seen that someone thought is was a 300zx, but then someone else thought it was a Z32 (?)
You get a clear view of the back of it near the end when she is in the boot, but you never see the front very clearly. My 'back end' knowledge (ooer) is not too good...
Just had another look, and you get a very brief glimpse of the headlights as Uma overtakes on her bike. Does indeed look like a ZX... my bad. :o

A Z32 is a 300ZX, just like an S14 is a 200sx :wack:
And it is a 300 :)
I can't believe this thread is still doing the rounds - I devoted Sunday evening to watching this film - turned off my phones and computers etc - and I have to say I really enjoyed it and can't wait to get Kill Bill 2.

Vol 2 is better imo, bit slower but better story. Michael Madsen rocks, and the scene in the graveyard is just spooky  (You'll know which one I mean when you see it).
Ah - thanks PulsatingStar.
You learn something new every day.
Sounded sweet when she pulled away in it....
Just one thing to say about Kill Bill2, claustrophobia  :hurl:
Say no more, don't wanna spoil it.

:shudder:
Saw this last night - a top film and I prefered the cinematic references in the second one (I was never really a manga/anime freak but Leone-type spaghetti westerns on the other hand...)
