magic:D;)
im the seedy fairy :)
 :wack:
i've got about 80% of the tracks on that tracklisting
cant beat a westwood compilation tho
Got it...top album....although not enough UK hip hop on there in my opinion....gonna have to resort to other tricks to get that....LOL
its a shame the bloke is a complete cock and wannabe. Has a good choice in music tho ;)
its a shame the bloke is a complete cock and wannabe. Has a good choice in music tho ;)
mate hes not a wannabe in terms of being a legendary hip hop dj, he was one of the first people to play hip hop in the uk, had the first rap show in the UK - Capital Rap Show and helped to set up Kiss FM when it was pirate. You cannot deny the man's place in hip hop evolution...
But all the stuff he says is just comedy, an act, like a bloody WWE Wrestler...
He has been criticised tho for only playing Sony signed artists and basically just doing exactly the same show as Funk Master Flex, but in the UK

Tim "my dad's a Vicar" Westwood :wack:
there must be some self-mocking in the stuff he says... i think its hilarious... you can hear his real accent coming through sometimes in the midst of his gangsta speak ...
As we all know r&b n rap etc is MOBO and if i was one of the artists and he started calling me brother, i would take it as some white boy piss take and slap the fooker
'yer dogg, droppin a bomb' i mean WTF is all that about
its just street talk marky, it would be narrow minded to just think black people talk like that, as you may have noticed most of the kids nowadays talk like our Timmy........
And westwood is respected in both the UK and US hip hop communities, its not about colour its about what you're into
I bet he swopped bodies with micheal jackson at an early age... would explain a lot..

it isnt about colour.... there are ppl from all communities respected in the hip hop world... but they dont feel the need put on a stupid voice and act like a tw@t.

thats on the standard rims too isnt it?
The problem I have with Westwood is, he did have one of the first soley hip hop radio shows but chose to play predominently mainstream crap hip hop from big labels. Totally ignoring the masses of superb underground hip hop from hip hop's formative years. And he put on a fake ass pseudo american accent while doing it when, in reality, he's 100% middle class English.
Nothing's changed.
Talk about keeping it real
well i've always enjoyed his shows from the early days on capital fm
about 12 years ago westwoods show was the only show where you could actually listen to hip hop in this country  .....how things have changed
the only other source of hip hop knowledge was an old mag called the HHC - Hip Hop Connection
gotta respect him for still rocking that 1985 Tom Cruise haircut too!
Hip hop's been played on radio one since 1986. It wasn't westwood playing it.
Hip hop's been played on radio one since 1986. It wasn't westwood playing it.
yea hip hop tracks on the playlist, but not 2-3 hrs dedicated to nothing but hip hop
yeah radio one's been playing mainsteam chart hip hop for years. However, If you wanted to hear excellent hip hop from tiny US labels back then you wouldn't be listening to westwood. John Peel would play 3 or 4 tracks in every show as would (to a lesser extent) Andy Kershaw.
This was proper street level hardcore hip hop with raw feeling, just what hip hop should be all about. Not some jumped up overpaid sell out talking about the swimming pool in his million dollar crib.
The whole subject really annoys me so I'll try and avoid posting about it again :)
well i do love my hip hop in all its forms from the middle class appeasing 'underground' hip hop, to the blatant westwood stylee flavas which i love also
been into hip hop since 83, and it aint really gonna change

westwood = knobber IMHO :rolleyes:
whenever he talks ta a rapper i get the impression they sit there thinking "this guy is a total prat"
plus he only seems to play chart rap these days which i find all very samey and dull, almost every mainstream rapper is saying the same thing these days and hardly any of them can rhyme in a way that makes me sit up and listen with a real meaning and storey to what they are saying (a thing i believe all truely great rappers can do - DMX , Tupac etc.)
tbh almost anyone can write a rhyme about how much money/bitches/cars/clothes etc they have and how they are still gangsta's cos they would kill you if you looked at them funny - booooring
i dont mind rappers bigging themselves up in a rhyme, but when an artists album has 12 almost identical tracks on it it makes me
give me Jurassic 5 over G-Unit anyday
god i feel like a right old man now :D lol
i'll post more on this later when i've come back from being on the pish

I thought you weren't much older than me...
24, first heard hip hop when i was 4 in my school playground watching breakdancers melting the lino

ahh yes, knew you were about my age-ish.
lol not all the new stuff is crap.... ludacris is fairly talented imo.. he peaked on word of mouf but new album isnt bad. eminem was great..but then went crap.. but is getting back to his original style.
none of them are a patch on melle mel lol...
g unit :ghey: housemate plays g unit all the time and i mean the whole abum more than once a day every day all the time... :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:
also black eyed piss poor rubbish... cant stand them...
I wish some ppl would put some wit and intelligence into their rhymes... sick of hearing lyrics a 12 year old would come up with the first time he tried...

i totally agree sham, it was the lyrical skill of some mc's and rappers that got me into hip-hop in the first place. its been a while since i heard anyone mainstream as it were rhyming about something worthwhile or with any meaning instead of mindless "im better than you and id have you in a fight" rubbish.
i think im gonna go listen to Tupac - Pain to remind me what someone with real talent can produce :notworthy
True...Westwood is more mainstream now than ever....and my favourite radio station at the moment is actually 1Xtra....digital station from the BBC. It's really pushing UK hip hop at the moment....plus real talented rhyimg such as Cream Cartel,Doc Brown and my personal favourite UK artist at the moment ScorZayZee....if anyone's heard his 'Great Britain' track you'll know what I mean about lyrics....I recommend it if you can get hold of a copy.
GGGGG - UNIT!!
anyways back from down the booozer and i must say to call Tupac someone who was hardcore is a bit disilluisoned - the boy was a ballerina for gawds sake trained at a theatre school, who became suge knights bitch, making billions for death row, but poor old tupac got feck all
and you can't knock fifty, he's got skills, he's been there done that, been hit with a few shells but dont walk with a limp - if you think fifty cent is a fake azz pop rapper(a la ja rule) check out his earilier independent stuff - "how to rob" is a track that springs to mind. Fifty basically set up his own label, and put down some fantastic stuff comenting about the record industry. Eminem signed him because his underground stuff was labelled as "the black eminem" and to some degree, 50 has sold out with get rich or die trying, but none the less, the skills do still remain
GGGGG - UNIT!!
eh?
who became suge knights bitch, making billions for death row, but poor old tupac got feck all
can you explain that too please?
i may not be "wid it" but i still want to learn
eh?
can you explain that too please?
i may not be "wid it" but i still want to learn
well tupac got locked up for a sexual battery charge in 94, and was basically bullied off the wings on rikers island and had to be kept away from the general population for his own safety.nyway Suge Knight(CEO of death row records)bailed 2pac out of jail for about 1million dollars, on the condition that 2pac produces 3 albums for death row records. Suge kept 2pac with a house and cars, but never let him see the billions of dollars he was making for death row as the worlds number 1 selling rap star. Apparantly 2pac started asking questions about where the money he was making was, and this is what led to the conspiracy theory that suge knight was responsible for his death...
do you feel educated now leon?

ja rule  ja cock
some new stuff is good (got a lot of time for ludacris, farrell etc) but some of it falls into R&B (sketchy area that) but even that 'term' is way over used, I always thought R&B (ie Rhythm and Blues) was B.B. King etc!
Gimme some old school snoop or dre anyday...

I think we all wish he would jump off.........................a bridge :smash:
I think we all wish he would jump off.........................a bridge :smash:
Well we've always known that you've been suicidal mark but theres no need to externalise your feelings! :p
Anyway a jump off is usually a sexual partner who has no issues with you having intercourse and then just leaving, no problemo - hence the term jump off, and why it is celebrated
loaded up my car with college girls on friday

LMAO
Right just to clarify what a jump off is, heres a quote from one of my fave MCs at the moment, Joe Buddens "Pump It Up" tune:
"My jump off doesnt run off at the mouth so much, my jump off never asks why i go out so much,
My jump never has me going out of my way, my jump off dont want nothing on valentines day,
My jump off dont argue or get rebellious, she dont mind hanging out with the fellas , My jump off is not insecure or jealous!!!"
So as you can see, a "jump off" is a lot of blokes ideal girlfriend

i didnt say tupac was hardcore, i said he had talent. anyway, whats it matter if he had a decent education, should that mean he cant be or wasnt a good rapper ?
i dont care if a rapper is black/white/from a poor background/from a rich background or whatever as long as they write rhymes i wanna listen to then i can appreciate their skill, the polictics of who they are shouldnt matter.
plus i wasnt knocking 50 cent as i dont mind some of his stuff, but just like many famous rappers "crews", G-Unit are basically all pretty mediocre rappers hanging on the coat tails of someone decent.

Alicia Keys - You Don’t Know My Name
this track is REALLY growing on me
really is a nice track
reminds me a bit of that barry white song where the girl phones up barry saying how she got caught out in the rain :D
Alicia Keys - You Don’t Know My Name
this track is REALLY growing on me
really is a nice track
it's deffo a grower, dont usually rate Alicia Keyes, but that track is OK, other track that came out sampling biggy's 'juicy' was better, track entitled 'juciest'
that sampled juicy fruit... one of my favourite 80s tunes...mtume i think its by...
Mmmm Alicia Keys - Juciest is one of my fave tunes
I d/l You don't know my name when I got back from London
and after it grew on me, it's withered and died now.
Preferred that J'Lo one featuring R Kelly - Baby I Love You
i didnt say tupac was hardcore, i said he had talent. anyway, whats it matter if he had a decent education, should that mean he cant be or wasnt a good rapper ?
:)
Tupac didnt have a good education, he didnt come from a 'decent' background - his mother was a broken crack addict ex black panther, but he did go to stage/theatre school with jada pinkett (will smith's missus and equally as irratating as he is), he was basically a fame hungry bloke who eventually became the 'legend' that is 2pac
... feel a right little ganstar :wack:
