i know, i know, honda, but....

as some of you may know my last car was a canny sports car, but after it went to heaven i thought id better simmer down a bit.

i'm sick of the vectra now and i really fancy a honda integra type r, but i know nothing about these cars, other than 185bhp and fwd.

can anyone enlighten me about them, foward me to a buying guide etc.

i would have looked into s14 but still want to keep away from turbos at the mo:D

As said they are claimed to be the best handling front wheel drive car around. Very good handling, very good speed, and nice revving engine (rev limit is over 8.5k ;) ).

Umm... The UK and Jap shape are different (UK has twin headlights, Jap has single lights). Also the Jap version has 197bhp, but is run on 100ron fuel. Look to pay 8k+ really to get a good one. Very good cars tho

theres not much between standard teg type r's and standard S14s....apart from the the fact that teg r's get unstable at high speeds with all that FWD scrabble

good cars tho

we have a 160bhp 1.8VTI Civic and whilst it's quite quick, I find you need to really abuse it to get it to go fast and that's just not practical for everyday driving. Overall nice car, but not in the same league as a 200sx by quite a long way
Any reason why you don't want to have anything with a turbo? seems weird to me  The 200sx is my first turbo'd car and there's no going back now, I love it to bits :smitten:

i think he wants to stay away from tubbies due to the problems that can arise with them, and probably the money you'll spend tuning a turbo charged car!

im with you tho nuclearbomb, i'd never have anything else without a turbo as my next car, unless i hit financial hardship

Surely driving practically everyday isnt driving fast

The 1.8vti civic saloon and teg type r are completely different beasts. And of course you need to abuse it, its the nature of VTEC! I find in my civic if you stay below 5k it drives normally, not slow at all, just not lightening quick. Then you go 5k+ and it just flys and screams, alot of fun to drive, and as i said, can easily be driven calmly and normally with ease.

thats basically it, something that can be driven 'normally' but has a dark secret under the bonnet waiting to be released!!!!
id have a turbo car again, but they are just too thirsty for everyday use, adn you cant stop from toeing it and sucking in all that petrol, just gotta do it!!!!

suppose an integra wont be much more economical, but its just something different, again that you dont see very often up here.

still, gotta sell the vectra first, then wait for a compo cheque im due, then im in business!!

sorry about the delay, been away from home all week again, bloody work!!!

had a look at that one hadyn, cheers, but im after uk one, not to keen on the import headlight cluster, if im right i think the uk ones have twin spots rather than a single fitting, if you know what i mean.

i have now sold the vectra at a slight profit (always a winner!!) just servicing it for the lad then he gets it/pays for it on wednesday this week. then i'm gonna be looking to get a uk integra type r, if anyone knows of any then pls let me know.
again im working away from home this week so prob wont reply till weekend again.

thanxs for input

Go to the Honda revolutions site and do a search for posts under my name "mickstreet" I'm sure I posted a link to a buying guide on there ages ago but I can't find it (and can't be bothered to search on there forum :p ). I test drove one a while ago and it was a toss up between that and the *****. Cracking rev happy motor. Got to love a car that just keeps pulling up to 8.5/9k rpm :D

i spoted the portuguese link on the integra scan ;)

If you want to see more stuff in Integra check this site from a portuguese club, its all in english
