View Full Version : Nokia 6600
Having returned my fault P900 and cancelled my contract with Orange I'm now back looking at phones and contracts... The Nokia 6600 has caught my eye - quite like the Symbian Series 60 OS found on the similar 7650 it replaced. Anyone have any good/bad experiences of this phone?
Its also on offer at £49 on O2 Online which makes it more appealing.
It's excellent. Loads of apps available, including MP3 players, emulators etc. Oh, and it can play NGage games too ;)

Is there a headphone socket on it? And what memory cards does it take? Wouldn't mind using it to listen to mp3s on the way work. :)

It does have a headphone socket, and it takes MMC cards :)

Cool, is it standard size or Nokia proprietory one (like Sony's P900)? :)

What, the headphone socket? Standard size I think. I'm sure my mate plugs his normal headphones into his.

Yeah, excellent. I suppose I could check the Nokia website :D
(Me thinks about buying a 256meg MMC card to fill with music :D )

Just been on the overclockers forum and did a search. Apparently, it only plays in mono :(

That's true I believe, but does it really matter when it does loads of other things as well? Like play Tomb Raider on your phone
lol. One of things I want to use it for is to listen to choons on the way to work (I walk). :D
You can record your own ringtones and things as well. Listen to these my mate made after I gave him the idea :D :D

Anyone got an SPV E200? They're free on Orange at the mo. :)
the only problem with the 6600 is that it only has one camera, which is on the back, so you can't really video phone with it..

erm don't all camera phones only have one camera?
And if its on the back, its easier to aim it at the thinig you wanna take a pic with! ;)
I have the 3650, which is very similar to the 6600, and i have no bad things to say about it. You can also watch movies and stuff on it (nokia series 60 phones) once you have downloaded
Nokia Multimedia Converter (which converts most A/V formats into the 3GP format to watch on RealOne player)
and an MMC reader for your PC.
 I get lots of "whats going on there?" looks on the train as i watch Kill Bill :D
some phones have 2, front and back.....;)
I know you can do this on the P900, but...can you use the SPV to access the web using the Bluetooth dongle on my PC (i.e. not GPRS). This it'll save me being directly infront of PC if I want quickly browse the web.
Ta.
Actually just found this interesting article...

Think this may be the new phone for me :D
Phone Free on Orange
£35/month gets me:
200 anytime/any network mins a month
500 free txts a month
free weekend calls to landline and orange mobiles
Pretty good deal I think :)
£35 a month on 3 gets you 750 minutes
I need free text though. My bills will be enormous without free text. :( So it's a decision between O2 (online offer free text) and Orange (again, square deals offer free text). 200 mins is plenty really for what I use at the moment - especially with the unlimited to landlines at weekends. :)
Still, not had my refund from my faulty P900 yet so not deciding until that happens! I may even go for another P900.... :wack:
