ever built a wooden garage?

well if u have gimme any tips u have please.
Imgonna be building a wooden garage to use as a workshop for the 200, gonna be approx twice the width and 1+1/2 times the length of a 200, and will be extending the present 8x6 base to accomodate.

so any advice u have gents (or ladies) would be appreciated.

ohhhh so yer going through with it then :cool:
hmmm theres a hell of a lot to think about, security i suppose if you're leaving loadsa tools in there, sealing so the water cant get in, weatherproofing so the wood lasts more than a year etc.
might be worth watching some of the american woodcraft programs you get on the discovery channels, home and lesuire etc, they've done stuff like taht, built hoses and sheds and even boats :eek: from wood. could pick a few tips up.
you'll probably be able to find books on doing it at www.amazon.co.uk too :)
i'll have a hunt about to try and find some decent sites for you mate :)

all depends on your budget ????
but put a damp poof membrane in the base
if you can build it from ply the thicker the better then it will be secure as its a b1tch to break through without noise
if yu can do inside of walls in ply too if not use plaster board cheap as chips, and insulate in beetween for noise and warmth
doors can be 2 8x4 sheets of 1" or 3/4" ply as this will give you an opening of 8ft and wont twist or shrink ,
treat it with as much timber care as you can get on
when building this make sure that the water does not lie anywhare on the base as this is the twat that rots it
essy realy just down to your budget

i was thinking timber rather than ply, cos i reckon ply dont look to great and would absorb loads of moisture, was gonna go for tongue and groove.

Our old one has t and g with a felt roof and concrete floor. Dad cut it up and make a shed out of it :smash: :smash: :smash:
