View Full Version : Pioneer Changer and Amp help please......
I have just received my CD changer and Amplifier and have a few questions...
Has anyone got a Pioneer changer in their car?
If so, where did you connect the yellow cable? Sicne it needs continuos power, problably is used to store info about discs... Will fit it without this wired in if necessary....
Where have most people mounted their amp(s)? How are they secured? Have you built MDF floors to house the amp(s)?
Thanks,

The yellow wire is obviously the permanent live.
There should already be a wire there connected to the original block for your stereo, just use a volt tester.
If you don't have one, make one with a light bulb and 2 wires, put one on the car (earth) and connect the other to a wire without the keys in the ignition, if it lights it's a permanent live!!

COOL!!!!!! Will probably explode myself, but will be fun trying http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif
Will buy a volt tester from halford, or 2 stips of wire, a light bulb and some rubber boots http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

John, Yellow is permanant live, Red is switched live and Black is ground. I think this is pretty much standard now.
I am presuming that to patch into the permanent live, I will need to disconnect the battery? If so, what happens to the alarm?
Thanks and appologies for my hopelessness..

You shouldn't need to disconnect the battery, just be careful.
you will only end blowing a fuse if you earth it out...
