There is no provision in the vbb software to allow moderators or admins to read anyones pms save there own. :indiff:

Why the paranoia?

Jon

I don't think so.

Edit - Oops.
Sure I'd seen a thread a while ago that PMs could be seen by admin.

I think he was sending CC details ... just wanted to make sure, dunno about hackers getting into DB, the Forums software is OK, you would be very very very very very very unlucky to have a hacker break in, pick your PM box and read them.

There is only one way to get access to the sxoc database as you cannot get to it through the firewall directly, I trust our provisions enough to have my details stored in pms...

There is no method in the admin control panel to read another users pm's.

I've sent personal PMs that I would prefer to remain private. Mind you, MI5 can read all our emails so I don't suppose anything is really private.

It was Keith that revealed it could be done in the chairman vote. :annoyed: :annoyed:

Jon

So Keith can see who votes for what, eh ?

I'm scared if anyone finds out what I voted Aitch should have for breakfast AND what DS should do to his girl

Somewhat dangerous though if some twat whose name begins with Y guesses your password and gains access to all you PMs.

Oh well I'm alright - my password is the same as my user name - so obvious as to be unobvious that no-one's ever going to guess it.

Lmao @ Aitch.

*disco-tom wonders how many have tried to log in as Aitch by now... :wack:

On a serious note!

I thought the admins had access to the log in passwords? That way, they could gain access to the PM's?

Heck, I don't care. There's nothing in my whole life I consider private enough, anyway.... :(

Ah but that is statistically impossible. Its not something simple and I have checked it against software that gives me suitable feelings of happiness ;)

We could change a password and then login but i get the feeling someone would notice

Ok, that's cool. I was under the false impression that you guys could see our passwords.

An antipodean obsession is quite good and healthy.

The JB man-love thing must have involved someone else other than me - the very thought is just :hurl: I mean, have you met JB? :wack: :D

Lol Rude Dog, but it's not true. I have been on
but just havn't posted anything.
Can't even tell you what music I'm listening to
since Hadyn had the thread closed :smash: :smash: :smash:

Plus, I have got a social life outside of this board:nod:
And the time difference makes it difficult sometimes
because a girl needs her beauty sleep:D

And if everyone is really interested, Aitch and I keep
in daily contact. So there:p

And I also hope that pm's are private:eek:

Nope. Admins *cannot* read PM's.

YorkshireRam

like anything else tho, the pm is held in the database until it is archived/deleted. anyone with access to the db can directly open the tables and read unencrypted information - unless pm's are encrypted within the db?

either that, or just get ur password.. :D

but its obvious that no-oone here would do that, unless asked to do so by a higher authority...police etc... do they have the powers to ask for db's and server logs still?

So would I, it's just I'd rather they didn't get hold of it if it's supposed to be private.

And when Jim posted his original post aimed at me I'll admit a certain amount of panic coursed through my body - I assumed it was a lucky guess though! :o :o :wack:
