Thx for urs advice...

Hi Ray,
Both DLS and Boston are very highly rated.
Excellent quality and performance, you won't be disappointed with either.
The power applied to the speakers will depend on which series/models of speakers you go for.
For either of the makes, you'll probably need more power than 50W per speaker, can you bridge your amp to 100Wx2?
Have a look on there web sites for the specs of the speakers: http://www.bostonacoustics.com/ http://www.dls.se

Cheers

Who are DLS, how do they compare with say, JL Audio?

depending on what model. The top DLS would be more crisp and quality than the JL. But i am biased

DLS is a Swedish company base in Gotenburg.
Basically, Various places I shopped at told me that for the price range I was lookinng at, nothing would beat DLS in quality and power.
The Ultimate series amps are pretty Ultimate (again, for the price range).

personally i would go for the bostons http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif i got the rally series RC620 6.5" 2 way splits ... so so powerful and bassy with a nice high-end sound ..

you would probably find what ever you buy (esp dls or bostons) actually wouldnt sound as powerful as the stockies when running off the head unit..

ya really gotta have a decent amp for them

im giving my bostons 150 watts a side

can u suggest me other brands which are better than Alpine with similar price?
is Pheonix Gold better than Alpine?
Thx for any comments.

Hi Ray,

If you're considering something like Alpine Amps, then you could also think about Kenwood & Sony, which are in the same sort of price range and quality.
However, you can't really compare their quality to that of the DLS or BA, these are pretty much totally in a different league, and hence more expensive.

You will get good results with the Alpine/Kenwood/Sony brands as they are very good quality products on the whole.
It all depends on "how much" quality you want and how much you're willing to spend.

In my Opinion the brands of amps that I know about I would categorise in the following order:

Cheapy range - Pine, Jensen, Soundlab £50 - £150.

Middle range - Kenwood, Sony, Alpine, Rockford, Genesis. £150 - £500.

High Range - DLS, BA, Soundstream. £400 - £1500

Pro Range - Diamond £1200 - £3000.

You basically get what you pay for.

Regards

Didin

Thx so much!
But I have limited budget under 200 sterling :(
VDO 4600 made in Japan
Pheonix gold QS 150x4 madie in china
Alpine F407..but made in Korean

Becoz I am living in Hong Kong so I think urs guy amps are made in other place.
which one is better in sound quality?

Thx for any opinion ;)

I've never heard any of the VDO stuff so I can't really comment on its sound quality.
However, between the Alpine and the PG, I would personally most likely go for the PG. I've heard some cars running PG amps, and I was quite impressed. Where as the majority of people run the likes of Alpine, Kenwood, Sony which sound Very Good, the Pheonix was that little bit cleaner.

A couple that have not been thrown up yet are MacAudio and Magant. Both the same company, different packaging. The Mac's are very good for the price. Check out www.caraudiodirect.com (http://www.caraudiodirect.com)

aye, I ues to have some Mac tens run off a medium sized mac amp - lovely sound. The amp could punch above its weight a bit as well :)
Id go for PG over alpine too - dont really think theres much in it though :)
