There is somebody on eBay selling container space for £1300ish, then you'll have VAT and import tax (poss 15% unless historic then it's 5%).

You can fit a standard car into a container.
its £1500, maybe less.

If you use RORO its cheaper, and this is the easiest way.

mate has jsut brought a car from japan and it cost him about £450, but it's done on volumetric weight and I'm guessing you are talking about a yank barge so you prolly triple that LOL.

But with the Crown Victoria I'm getting a car larger than an S class, which can seat 6 people, with a 4.6L V8 that's good for half a million miles, all the toys, that'll effortlessly whisk me up and down French motorways all day at 100mph with the cruise control on and which I can park at airports or in big cities without careing whether it gets nicked (somthing I very much worry about in the old Mercs or the *****). And at £9600 brand new, plus shipping, it's less than the cost of a year old mid spec Focus.

Can't be bad

JB, if you have a look on the Mustang owners forum http://www.ukcobra.co.uk/forums/index.php3?s= there is quite a lot of info on shipping, importers, and importing. You could always get intouch with these http://www.americancarimports.co.uk/ or even http://www.hilltopservices.co.uk/ who are doing the work on our Mustang and are importing (mainly trucks) all the time. Hilltop should be able to sort a car out for you to your spec. :)

I hate crown victoria's, the only ones I ever see in the US are taxi's or cop cars.

What about from the same family a Lincoln V8? 0-60 in 6.4 seconds :notworthy

Better still get a Ford SVT Lightning.

Then you and Club JB could travel in full red-neck stylee, 3 in the front 10 in the back, chucking the empty bud bottles at the froggies as you storm by, burning rubber

That's precisely why I would consider one. They can be used and abused and live on an oil change for 100k miles without problem. Been in the back of many Vicky taxis and they're comfortable enough and had one as a hire car a couple of years ago for a week. Useless round the bends but bloody great in a straight line. AND, they're not a car you get attached to so no worries on those long-stays for weeks on end.

My local Ford dealer in France reckons parts aren't a problem. A fair number of yank models are sold across Europe each year so most parts are available from Germany within 48hrs. Those that aren't can be sourced from Ford US within 10 working days. As regards routine servicing (which apart from oil changes, is every 100k miles  ) he has access to all the service manuals via the Ford intranet.

seems a good idea

even though it is ugly and sin

but use it and abuse it .....cant go wrong :)

Mustang still has a live axle !!!!!!!

Crown Vicks.....

I dunno chap - when you pick up a three yr old Omega Elite for under 5K, I'd be sorely tempted by something that actually goes round corners...

I drove a Crown Victoria hire car - just dreadful.... FWD innit?
