Hi Chaps,

I have managed to gain from someones misfortune and got a place on the option drift day this sunday.

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for the day and if anyone could let me know of the format of the days events.

Also, should I take spare front tyres (S15) or should I not see too much understeer in my car ?

Also what will everyone be wearing ?

I have a full set of race gear as I ahev done a few trackdays but I don't want to be the only muppet there dressed like a formula one driver !!

what about skid lids ? I'll probably bring it as it is good practice getting used to seeing through the narrow field of vision I suppose..

Lastly what sort of tyre pressures do you guys run on ?

Please excuse all of my silly questions...
cheers
Steve

1: you prolly wont need spare front wheels... but if you drive on expensive rubber, you might want to reconsider this - you may well see understeer till you get used to it :) 2: ask for tips when needed - everyone is really friendly 3: you need a helmet for practice this year - I very much doubt many/any will wear much more (well except normal clothes.... ewwww....

I might as well chip in with some tips :D

tyres:

lower pressure on the fronts for more grip there - 28 psi is or so - and feel free to pump up the rears to anything between 35 and 40 psi, so they lose grip better.

gripy fronts help you get into oversteer.

fyi, I have such hard rubber on the fronts I feel I need to run them at 28 psi on the road.

and you'll want spare REARS, not fronts. Although drifting wears both fronts and rears, the rears are going to get worn at a massively faster rate -as long as your fronts are atleast in roadworty condition, they should easily see the day through and a few more besides.

yay, I can stop pontificating now.

oh, and it's worth watching the drift bible and/or reading the drifting tips beforehand, obviously.

I think I posted a page in the silverstone thread.
