I used to work for Trident placing kids on W/E, some of the reports that we got back from the kids were quality...

was a funny job... stress free most of the time apart from just before school holidays when it was absolute bedlam trying to find 300 little darlings a W/E Placement, and of course they all wanted to be Doctors (etc)... made some good **** ups, like placing a convicted arsonist in a Wood Yard  and a kid who had convictions for stealing Bikes in a Bike Tuners Garage, had some bad employers as well, including one who assaulted a kid with a sandwich cos the kid had chosen the last cheese & pickle from the staff canteen.

I did two lots of work experience, both about 10 - 15 years back (christ! doesnt time fly!!!)

one lot was for a company called Interlink communications - working on PCB design and assembly for print servers and various other serial devices :) the day where computer components were hand assembled, all the resistors had to point the same way :) so it looked nice!! and the flow soldering machine was only used a few times a week!

then another time for Colchester Computer Center... in the good ol days of the Atari ST and Amiga battles :)

I was at First Choice holidays, just in an office department.

Every single person there was an old woman, and as such I didnt really ever talk to them. I also did just about every piece of work you can imagine much quicker than them due to their computer illiteracy. For some reason they gave me a really bad report, which made things difficult from me as I had to try and erase any knownledge of work experience from my CV when looking for a job...

Spent 2 weeks at the local ford dealership in 1991

This were Sierra Cosworth days :D

I also found out that 3door Cossies without the Whale Tail are almost undriveable above 90 - they just go everywhere (some upper class twot wanted the spoiler taken off his 87 3 door, as he thought it spoiled the look!!!! )

The girl was very average as it turned out. The job was great. Lots of laughs, surprisingly. But I wouldn't want to earn my living doing that.

I spent 2 weeks at mine in 1988, helped fit superchargers to 4X4 sierra's, and do a twin turbo conversion on a granada (that went well), spent most of my time just passing the spanners though ;)

Done my WE for Psygnosis/Psyclapse around the days of Shadow of the Beast on the Amiga.

At the end they asked me what computer I had and they then proceeded to give me a bag with about 10 games in & t-shirts etc.

After that decided i wanted to work in Games testing and later on landed a job in Sony SCEE in Liverpool, lasted 2 months as I was working a night job aswell which paid better.

Cheers

2 weeks as porter in hospital....nurses, hubba, hubba, drool ! :D

Good fun, especially when the wheelchairs had wobbly wheel syndrome.
Crash situations were chaotic...real eye opener.
Highest responsibility was changing the oxygen tanks on baby incubators

The first lot (4th year) was at the town hall in legal. That was when I thought I could manage seven more years of school.
The next lot (lower 6) was in a local music shop. I played the pianos and the guitars and accompanied the alcoholic owner to the pub every lunchtime. He usually had a six pack to go aswell. If oly work was really like that. Thinking about it - the last fortnight before I got made redundant from Marconi had some familiar themes...

I spent my work experience in the local Woolworths, where I just happened to already have a part time after school job anyway. They were short staffed so I offered to help out because I hated school anyway, but the manager was unsure about me taking timeoff school - I got school to ring my manager to ask if he would let me do work experience there. I had told him to epxpect the call and he said yes. Then followed 2 weeks paid work experience, most of it at time and half because I was working more hours than I was contracted for. Manager had a full compliment of staff ans school thought I was showing an interest in something. Everyone a winner. :D
