How do the 200sx's fare in safety tests?
I know the S13's old, but there must be some data on it somewhere.

I think you'll find that the rover metro / 100 is a death trap when it came to euro NCAP ratings.... I'd better not crash in it then!
anything driven by someone wearing a cap is the most deadly car on the road.
Flat cap, BBC or trilby... steer well clear

exactly, everything JUST meets legislation at that end of the market
There may have been recent changes, but the basic crash test regulation is simple.
In a 30mph crash into a large solid object, the steering wheel must move towards the driver's face by less than a foot.
Remember, the Reliant Robin and original Mini were still being sold 3 years ago.
Scary really.

Mmmmmmm, I was thinking of buying a VTR as well
Maybe I'll think twice about it after reading this, I mean, You would have thought that a car with that much performance would have a 'duty' to its driver to be safe, I mean the average driver simply cannot harness that sort of power, so you would have thought they'd have done something about the potential concequences. Perhaps thats why a lot of the modded saxos you see have roll cages?! (unless thats a requirment for road cars with lexus lights, sunstrips, led's & 500bhp?)
Just baffles me?!
:D :wack:

nothing like as simple as that i'm afraid, (my job for 4 years) there are 9 different tests that are carried out on the vehicle as a whole (that's 9 vehicles) when it's at production stage just to get it signed off (and that's if it passes first time without changes being made). there are pages of requirements to be fulfilled for each test, and a great number of dynamic and static measurements made, for example there are 36 channels of Data in one adult dummy on a Euro NCAP test, there are normally 2 adults and 2 child dummies (9 channels), then you have intrusion and displacement measurements. Quite complicated.

I'm curious to know what the tests are and who signs the car off.
Is it DVLA or similar ?

now you're testing me:eek: I'll make up a list (from memory as i don't do this anymore)
sign off is witnessed by international agencies and has to be done at accredited test houses. At Millbrook we had a VCA office on site
