If I can get the cash, I'd be up for it!!!! :D
I went to the last one. Was quite good :) I'd consult the longterm weather forecast for rain though :)
No safety bits required beyond a drivers license and a road-legal car, I believe. Not even a race suit required since this isn't a race and you ever really go faster than 45 mph, if that. Alot of people don't even accelerate in the straights ;) It's a practice remmember.
Depending on the weather forecast I may choose the latter one.
And yes, north weald is in essex. And it's 60 quid to go..
excellent! im sooooooooo going to it, ive contact number for tickets, ill post it tomorrow morning for anyone thats interested :)

track might be wet,it depends on a few things.....so come expecting it dry if its wet it will be a bonus...tyre man will be coming...we had to spend£800 with him to convince to turn up so make the most of it guys, they will only charge a small amount to swop over tyres.......................good idea for silverstone, if we want him there you will have to convince THE MANAEGMENT:wave:
Saunders
11-01-2004, 14:26
so there is going to be some one there to swap tyres on and off the rim? does that mean that we will have to bring our own tyres that we wish to swap?
dorifter
11-01-2004, 15:47
his at hand to swop over tyres ,not compulsary, his got mobile van can sort out punctures etc ,if you need tyres for the day because you don't want to shred good rubber bring along or contact me re sizes and i will see if he can turn up with a few

It is!!! :D
It is really light, so you can really throw it about.
Shuka Dori (not sure on the spelling  ) is a great fun.
By the time the 16th of Feb comes round, it should be completely stripped out, relocated fuel tank and battery, larger radiator and larger oil cooler.
I'm also waiting for a Piazza LSD to be fitted, though I don't think that will be done until the March events.

All booked up now.
Rob it is a pritty good day for viewing, most people will take you out for a passenger ride too. My passenger seat last time was always full :)
If you are gonna take some vid then I hope you can get it on the net after :)
I think its free to view, i dont see why they would want to try to charge for viewing.
I cant wait now :D

I like white cars, my MR2 is white too :)

the S13 i bought is unbelievably white, i bet it dont stay that clean for long :D my distinction is the irish VIL numberplate :P

10-02-2004, 01:23
I'll be there to watch, dont really think its worth having a go in an s12 with an open diff. I might try to sneak on for a couple of goes though if Nicks OK with it.;)
cloudandy
10-02-2004, 01:25
i might let you guys down since i haven't manage to get a decent diff for my car yet, unless you guys have something to offer me?
but i'll try my best.
cheers
andy
Have any of you guys who are going got 8 x standard wheel bolts???
im bringing my standard rear rims along, and i dont think ive still got the bolts for them:annoyed:
if i could borrow/ purchase them off someone when i get there that would be helpful
cloudandy - i still got my S13 LSD for sale mate, i could bring it down with me if you wanted to buy it, but by then it will be too late.....

10-02-2004, 16:47
I still haven't booked my place. But I guess as yet I don't know how many cars I am going to take with me.
My Black MR2 will be there for certain, though I don't know how I am going to get the FB there.
Does anyone on here knw someone that is selling a 'A-Frame' or towing dolly?
I wouldn't mind borrowing one, but I would love to buy one, and quick. Anyone with any ideas????
http://turandot.net/albums/XM-DriftWeald/DSC_0214.thumb.jpg
I think i've seen you parked at North Weald Market
that'll make four white s13s if andy gets a diff :p
lol! :)
Rob-s13:
I've never parked at north weald market before. Only been to north weald once, to the air field.. which is where that picture of my car was taken.
Heres mine, look out for me looking lost next monday morning - if i see another white 200 ill just follow it, by the sounds of it theyll all be white!!
only thing thats changed is i got different decals on the side - oh, and a nice dent in the front wing too :(
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid59/p9775ed70b8e0322b2a97dbaa413c0ce0/fc5f4fea.jpg
Jason we normally meet at maccy D's just round the corner for some muffins :D then take the 5 minutes trip to the airfield together.
so are we gonna do the first quad white S13 drift? :D, will look good on a vid clip for the first 10 seconds, just make sure the crashing soon after is edited out :D
cloudandy
11-02-2004, 00:52
jason what sort of diff u got on sale is it the s13 standard one?
i heard that the s13 diff isn't really useful and a s14 conversion would be better thats why im still stuck in the middle of it.
Unless you can do me a very good price then i wouldn't mind having a go at it mate.
cheers all
andy

11-02-2004, 00:54
quick question
some say that s13 facelift has lsd and some say it hasn't so does my 92' facelift model has an lsd?
it's highly likely it does :) - What is the registration letter ?
cloudandy
11-02-2004, 01:14
great.. thanks mate, really like that answer. so i can join in and drift propley
mine is a '92 k-reg and it has an lsd.
cloudandy
11-02-2004, 01:25
its a k- reg mate.
then it most certainly has an LSD :D
cloudandy
11-02-2004, 01:32
:D :D :D :D
are you going to bring any spare tyres on that day and would there be free tyre changing which i have heard?
cheers
andy
clearly we will need to do a group photo :D
sorry, no, I only have spares rear drifties for my own car
just go and buy any pair of identical shit 15" steelies from a breakers yard you can find. The cheaper the better. Four lug obviously. Try and give it the same profile as your curren tyres..
the free tyre changing is just that afaik, i dont think he sells them, just changes any tyres that you bring with you. If its wet then you wont see much wear in them, im not gonna bother changing the wheels if its wet.
jack ure rear up and spin 1 one the wheels, if the other one spins the same way you have LSD. as far as i know you need an S13 LSD to have the S14 conversion as you still need to use the casing from the S13 unit and swap it with the casing of the S14 one to make it fit.
I also heard that all K reg had LSD as standard and some J reg had it too. It might not be that good but its a hell of a difference from no LSD and will do beginners for a while :)
So all us 4 have white K reg S13's. people are gonna be fed up of seing us :D Ive got an irish age hiding numberplate so i will spoil the trend :P
cloudandy
11-02-2004, 02:01
hehe. sounds like its going to be fun then. we've got 4 noisy s13 on the day against everyone. what time you all going to be there?
does it matter when to go in? might have alot of traffic at that time right?
I'll most likely be there by 10 :)
I didn't have any trouble with traffic there or back last time. (november, a tuesday)
i only had the usual M25 traffic, i got there at about 9, you can just drive onto the airfield and there will be people setting out cones, the organiser has an elise, some people like to pick up £50 cars an hour before the drift event and take those. They make a bit more noise than S13 's :D

11-02-2004, 12:41
would there be problems with petrols then? or is there a petrol station ner by?
dunno mate, hope there is though, i can see me having to fill up at some point - probably more than once
i need a sheel garage ideally - the cars mapped on optimax..
there are a few shells in the area if I recall correctly.
We're so going to have to park near oneanother :D
this is going to look hilarious.
so is there definately 4 white s13's going?? excellent!
photo opportunity me thinks!!
anyone got a decent camera ? :D

Yeah, I do.
I have got some excellent shots before, and will be bringing both a camcorder and a ex professional camera.
Should be able to get some good action shots.
Perhaps the 4 white S13's should quad-drift??
the closest petrol station is a shell one iirc, its not far from maccy D's. we would probably have left maccy D's by 9 so it might be best to just go right to the airfield. You can see it from the motorway :)
don't eat MaccyDs - it makes you sick! (see many posts in non-200sx-related)
Also, I don't think they'd allow quad drifting on the track as it would be against the rules of the airfield.
i got a good digital camcorder that i can take stills off of (how do you think i got my sig pic??) so ill be bringing that, should be a good day, ive been waiting to get my hands on an airfield for ages now!!
what are you rules of the air field?
You take off,
You land,
You Taxi to Hanger,
Not
You Drift like a japaneese nutcase  :wack:

Personally I think that anyone caught drifting out on the public roads should be asked not to return to North Weald :whip: . If the council get upset because of people drifting in public then they are likely to ban drifting at North Weald.
If we lose this venue then we all lose out.
fair enough.... if 1 person ruins it for all the others they will not be popular :indiff:

is there any one going to north weld would like to buy a recaro recliner seat. I've got a brand new pair (in box) but now just wanted one instead so im sort of selling one if i get a decent price, got a sub frame too but not for a s13, looking for 290 pounds.

ill swap it for an S13 LSD???? :D

12-02-2004, 15:52

:Plug: Or a Corbeau Forza in red, a bit grubby with 2 fag burns at the front. On a bodged together (but safe) sliding subframe to fit S13 or S14.
If anyones interested you can try before you buy at NW, its only 4 bolts to fit it.
£50.:)

sorry mistake again. The seat is brand new in box and you can find the picture of the seat in the recaro web-site, i think they sell them in the magazines too.
while the standard facelift s13 seat provides no support at all , atleast mine aren't leather slidemasters :D

Rob,
Make sure it fits in the RX7. I dont know if 1st gens have the same problem, but hardly any after market seats fit in FD's as they are too wide to allow the door to shut.
Lee
I dont suppose anyone thats going monday could hook me up with a standard S13 alloy with some rubber still on for me to buy?
my spare is a standard one and im in need of another one so I can have 2 for drifting :)
Thanks in advance. let me know of a price too :D
ill be bringing 4 or 5 standard wheels & tyres, you can buy one off me if you wish??
price -um, £30??
ill be bringing therm all anyway so you can decide on the day mate :)
Jason
Ill take 1 jason cheers :)
cloudandy
14-02-2004, 00:58
sadly i just bought a pair of second hand tyres which i though
there would be someone changing the tyres there.
Is it worth bringing them along still, or im about to leave with blown tyres all round?
jason, i might need one of your standard wheels too, i will have
to let you know on the day, depends how bad my tyres are worn.
best thing, imo, is to drift on a set of two expendables which take cheap rubber sizes.
I've got two standard facelifts with 1mm of tread for this :) I just hope they last five corners.
I am sure if need be someone could point you to a local garage to get the tyres changed.
Rather than have a tyre guy there all day why not get someone to come over every few hours? Say he gets there at 9 to change peoples tyres, then comes again at 12 then at 3 to put peoples road tyres back?

Excellent day, ta for the wheel jason :)
getting the hang of it now, only had the S13 since the end of last week so i think i done pritty well :D
I didnt get any action pics/vids cuz i was always in my car drifting, I think ian got some action pics so ill ask him when i see him.
I managed to link the half the course on several occasions without spinning. I liked those tight bends as the day got on and i learned how to drift round them.
A good day for the SX, quite a few 200's showed up.
As requested I have the few pics of the 4 S13's all lined up. from left to right, alex, me , jason, andy
about 260k each cuz i wanted to keep them as high resolution as i could. I dont want to make the forum look ugly so i just posted the links to them.

Fun fun day:D
Killed a pair of rear tyres but the fronts got a severe hammerimg too from the massive understeer i was getting from the S12. Finally managed to sort some of that out on my final 2 laps.:annoyed:
Didnt realise that was Astraboy in the blue 14A, nice wide doughnuts at the end there.
Nice driving on your last go Jason, hope the start appears on video soon.:D:D:D You need to sort your suspension sharpish though mate. I was thinking about that banging you were getting from the suspension. I'm fairly sure it was your shocks bottoming out.
Nice one Nick, good fun day, pity the council wanted to feck it up.
Yea yea ok steve, granted my start could have been *cough* executed better.. blo0dy cones jumped out at me!
Good point about the shocks mate, hopefully they will be sorted for the next one; could really feel it when chaining drifts, the car was rolling all over the place:(
Cheers for the seat steve, i wish id put it in at the start of the day though!! :)
Someone must have some drift vidoes/ pictures:smash:

Thanks for the ride and the tools jason, a very sweet engine too.
I have got a small clip still on the DV but it was shaking so badly because it was really cold, i will try and get something uploaded sometime. Nice to meet you all.
I will get my car sorted for the next event....
cheers

i saw quite a few cameras filming too, after i watch the video, i seems to have 3 big flame coming out of my exhaust while on the track, is that a good new or a bad news?
have you got a blow off valve and no cat ? if so, it's quite normal.
ah, thats fine! just means unburnt fuel is being ignited, probably because exhaust was hot...
as long as its not blowing out loads of black/ white/ blue smoke its fine

yeah i've got them too. seems normal then. i had the parts fitted not long ago so hope it goes well. very long flame hehe..
the flames only generaly happen when you take your foot off the accelerator, which is when the BOV goes off. causing there to be a loss of measured air, so there's more fuel in the mixture, so it ends up unburnt in the exhaust, where it then meets more oxygen. Exhausts get hot :D
