just having a look for a fireproof racing suit cos it's gonna be my xmas prezzy :)
I've found this UK company (http://www.hthughes.com) that specialises in protective clothing and they seem to do decent race suits that start well cheap
£19 + vat + delivery for their budget model (http://www.hthughes.com/html/motorsports/oulton.html) (that one's not fireproof though)
Their cheapest fireproof one (http://www.hthughes.com/html/motorsports/proban%20oulton.html) is £40 delivered then it's only £55.70 all in delivered for their posh one (http://www.hthughes.com/html/motorsports/proban%20oulton1.html)
These prices can be reduced even further if you want more than 1.
Sounds really good to me. gonna place the order today

ps, noone else get a posh orange one or there'll be trouble :p

sweet, all sorted
I spoke to the sales guy and he asked what kind of racing I was doing. I said drift racing expecting the normal 'oh.... what's that then?' but he comes back with 'oh yeah, like on 5th gear the other week, you bloody nutters' :D
So my my order's placed, I opted for the additional £7 to have 'NewClearBomb' embroidered on it which is a bit :ghey: but what the hell eh :D

oompa loompa diddley dooo, we got a lot of drifting to do ;)

They look pretty good, very good prices too. Nt much point in me buying one yet though, i need to learn how to drive properly first. :(

Lets just hope they don't change the D1 regulations in 2005 so that you have to have an FIA approved one though!

MASH
26-12-2003, 00:47
No change to the rules.
regular race suit is all you'll need, doesnt have to be fire proof or FIA approved now or in the future. thats what silverstone told us, however if we use other tracks in 2005 they might say it has to be at least fire proof if not FIA so its best to get the posh suit for £60.

Quick note to all. Please go for the fireproof suits if your going to get one as this will be accepted by other tracks in the uk if we take the competition to new venues during 2005..

James

Depends what name you want to be known by and remembered by?

Don't the mags just use you real names? Would they be willing to use nicknames ?

Thought Phatty was getting fed up of being called FATTY as well

I have 2 quick questions about this:

1. How long does it take them to get it to you once ordered, i would be having my name put on it too.

2. Has anyone else got one yet and if so what colour?

Thanks

Thats cool that they are fast delivery wise, i'll have to order it the beginning of next month then. I figured i'd go for green and gold, is a pretty distateful combo but it will match my car and its kind of lotus f1 circa 1960s.

Can you please confirm the following please as a few of us are about to order a certain suit...

It is reccomended to be fireproof but not essential? Suit myself and a few others want to order is a full length suit that covers arms and legs but is not fireproof or FIA approved or anything like that.

We don't want to order them now and turn up in them on the day and be turned away because they don't meet approval.

Ta in advance

Just spoke to Kiki. Here is the plan....

Next year OPT plan on using many different circuits who will definately impose rules of fireproof suits, so OPT reccomend buying a proper suit now so you don't have to spend your money twice and have to buy a FIA/RAC suit next year. So buying it this year is killing two birds with one stone!

Still not essential to have fireproof this year, but if you buy it now you will save money in the long run!
