Hi all,

Ive finally managed to pick up a stock 1990 S13 pretty cheap, which I wanna start drifting with next year.

Basically, I need to know what i need to get the basic set up of a drift car. However, i need to keep cost to a minimum, as im running 2 other cars at the mo.

Im pretty sure that i will need an LSD? what would be my best option? will the s14 one fit? would this be ok to use or would it be better to use a 2way?

Suspension - obviously coilovers are the best option here, however these are very expensive, what other options are there? The lower the better i take it?
And the camber needs changing? How can i alter the camber?

Engine mods - Im going to buy a free flowing exhaust and filter to help out a bit, but will the engines standard power be sufficent?

Wheels - which is the better size? 17s/18s? width?

Think thats about it really........

Thanks in advance for any help

Paul

Best start would be an LSD, look in the breakers section for one off an S13, I'm not sure if an S14 one will bolt straight in (someone else will know). Lots of people do it on standard suspension although stiffer is better so a set of stiffer springs would be good. Standard power is ok, but a bit more wouldn't hurt :) Helps keep the wheels spinning when it's dry.

Welcome to the board :)

I agree with the voodoo man.
You definately need an LSD, an S13 one will obviously fit but I understand an S14 one will also go on without mush hassle, you just need to make sure you get the bolts that mount it onto the car cos they're incredibly hard to find if you don't have them.

As for power and suspension, if you're just getting started you really don't need to do anything. Of course 600bhp and coilovers would be ideal but if you just want to give it a go and find out about it it's just not neccessary. Midgers came 3rd the D1 rounds at Silverstone on totally stock S14 suspension

agree with newclear on the above.
Go drifting, then find out what you need to mod to suit your driving style, its pointless bolting on all the bits, most of which you might not need.
