View Full Version : Fluid on floor under rear LHS tyre

I have recently had th4 car lowered on Eibachs. This has really improved the car no end and I have a big smile on my face.

What I have noticed though, however, is that there is a fluid just inside the rear LHS tyre. Have got down on all fours http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/rolleyes.gif and can't see anything can could be leaking, just the wheel arch.

The fluid looks like water, it doesn't smell and is clear and has the same viscosity (big word http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif).

So it is either rain water that is pooling somewhere inside the arch and dripping out over night whilst the car is stationary. Or could be something a little more sinister (da da daaaa!!!!). What are the signs or worn/rupterd (?) shocks?

Thanks Guys,

John.

Hmm,odd one. I know there is a diff oil cooler on the other side, so it won't be that.

To check if your shocks are worn push down the corner of the car. It should just rise up and stop, if it bounces up and down a lot you're needing new shocks.

I have Eibach springs too, they really make the car handle well, and it looks better for being lower too http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

I think it most probably water that is dripping out, but will check if this goddamn rain ever stops!!!

Have heard a bumping sound too, but think this is either the Exhaust or the MDF/chipboar thing that covers the spare in teh boot. Will remove this piece of chipboard and see if sound stops.

As for Dogs pi55, I hope not, cos I smelt it http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif

A good way to test if it's brake fluid is to smear some over your car. If it takes the paint off then it's most likely brake fluid!!! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Seriously though, it's most likely water dripping off the bodywork, exhaust, suspension etc...

Use a pipette and drop some in the other halfs eyes while she's asleep. If she's blind the next day then you need to start worrying about the car.

Well if it tastes like water ..... dont panic
if it tstes like stale water ..... rain
Salty ............................ dog piss (dont ask http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif )
sweet ............................ Anti freeze
Lentils and Pineapple ............ Dhansak
Bitter ........................... screenwash

These are the only things to have leaked off my car .... if its none of these, mail me the taste and what the fluid was and I eill amend my list.

Cant be aircon .. that drips on the the 1st cat and evaporates straight away.

Yes I have tasted petrol ... cant get the taste out your mouth for days. Never had the need to taste engine oil (touch wood) ... As far as I know my misses has nevver pissed on any of my wheels http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

Looking under my car last night I can find NO pipes or tubes back by the LHS wheel.

So the only things it can be is

1) brake fluid
2) shock fluid
3) rain water from the boot water run off tuby things
4) Possibly the rear windscreen wash is channelled back there ?
