Front receieved a makeover, the a has a more evil look and bigger front spoiler. I don't know what else has changed. Nothing mechanical, I'm sure.

Dodn't someone mention that it gained an extra cat? I know my S14a had 2, anyone confirm for the S14?

My 95' S14 only had one cat before it was driven off by a spirited attack from a mongoose to cower under my bed until MOT time http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif.
I think the differences are
1) New nose and lights (twin HLWW)
2) New "ribbed" (for your pleasure) rear lights/trim panel
3) Joystick control of stereo
4) Missing boost control solenoid on drivers side suspension turret (is this missing or moved ?)

Any more ?

Err....

Coin holder on centre console.
They ditched the rheostat to dim the instrument lighing.
Knobbly texture to the instrument binnacle surround.
Divider in open bin behind gearstick to allow you to use it as a drinks holder.
Later 14a has cream leather seats and doorcard inserts (rules).
Spacesaver spare ( = more boot space).
Different alarm.

Spacesaver spare = waste of time.

Just carry a can of puncture repare in case of problems and ditch the spare for more boot space.

Speed responsive power stearing (I love It)
I think an improved compressor for the aircon (S14 - Just to the right of the engine-big metal thing , S14a - Not a lot)

Head units on later s14a were clarion early s14/s14a were sony (My late s14a had a clarion loom and a fitted sony head, changer, remote)

On the s14 the power stearing was exciting at high speeds but at least they fixed this on the s14a

I thought the standard S14 had speed responsive power steering too ? Mine does anyway http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
I can see on my mdm-100 when the ecu turns the power steering pump on, and it's hardly ever actually. Very difficult to get it to turn on at all over 20mph, and at motorway speeds it seems to be completely un-assisted no matter how hard you corner. It's done pretty well I reckon, really hard to tell through the wheel whether it's assisting or not (other than parking and stuff).
I always used to be very anti-power steering, but I like it on mine.

S14a has little ribs each side of the windscreen to stop rainwater taking its previous route through the open window and into my eyes.

The S14 does have speed sensitive power steering.

The S14a also has twin washer jets for the headlamps.

Someone mentioned the differenst seats on the S14a, they're a different but also a lot harder.

I've driven an S14a and found the seats uncomfortable compared to my own.

you had a slightly different exhaust manifold design.

early S14 used to crack, Nissan revised this on the S14a (96 -onwards)

plus the S14a look must more agressive (nicer I think!)

My S14 did not have speed sensitive power stearing as my local nissan dealer wanted a few hundred quid to add it for me.
I think this was a valve that opens different amounts depending on speed

I have had both a 1995 s14 and a 2001 s14a.

S14a wins it for me on ride, styling, build quality and not just that it is brand new it is a better more perfected car.

Thanks fellas!
I was under the impression that the s13 was the fastest. Then the s14 was written as doing 6.3 ish and the s14a !!!7.5!!!
I love my s14a and think it looks better but i have to admit i was gutted thinking my car only did 7.5.But i thought i`d get mods to bring that down.
