Remote Stereo?

I have a newly acquired emerald '99 s14a touring, I have read a couple of times that the mid life revamp this model underwent resulted in remote stereo controls being fitted. However, mine does not have that and the Nissan dealership I bought it from claimed to know nothing about it - Are they right or is my remote control residing in some punk salesmans micra? The unit I have is a clarion with 6 Disc multichanger.

The remote came with the Sony system with 10 disc autochanger.

Nissan have fitted all sorts of different stereo systems to the s14 during the course of its life, probably whatever they could get the cheapest at any one time. My 2000 14a also came with the Clarion unit/6CD changer from new. No remote http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

Another Essex type!
Nice to have you aboard mate.
The chances are you have an aftermarket retro-fitted unit.
The standard fit for a late S14a is a Sony cassette head unit with a 10 disc auto-changer in the boot (right hand side mounted vertically).
There is also a stalk type remote on the left side of the steering column, just below and forward of the indicator stalk.
If you look you may see a hole from the remote cable or signs of a repair.

If you need advice on stereo removal do a search in the ICE section before you start tugging on bits of plastic!

Also get yourself a smelly tree, they make your car go faster!

My '97 came with Sony and it has the remote unit.

I bought my S14a brand new in March 1999 and got the Clarion system with 6 disc CD changer. When I queried it with the dealer, (as the brochure specified the mentioned Sony system), I was told that all Nissans that were previously supplied with the Sony system are now supplied with the Clarion one. Didn't bother me cause my intention was to rip the lot out and install my own system anyway! I only queried it because I wanted to swap it out into my Mrs' car.

Later 200sx had the Clarion loom and head unit/changer.
Some (Including mine)have a Clarion loom and a factory fitted adapter with the last of the sony heads/changers/controls.
Changer cable was fitted for the sony changer
(Mine was missing the changer because they had run out at the factory and they had to buy me a Retail Sony Xplod changer)

Note: If any one has a sony 6 disc md changer for sale i would be interested (With or without cable )
