hi all
Does anyone know when the front brakes are used in a drift,
i saw some of the D1's and some used them and some don't,
but the ones that doesn't use the front brakes as much
looks alot better in a drift and its alot smoother too.
cheers

front brakes are used when aproaching a corner sideways (usually from a straight section), u use them to scrub off speed the same as normal racing, but in drift they are usually used in conjunction with the handbrake to balance the car while sideways. Lock the front brakes and the front section of the car slows down, resulting in a more angled drift, pull the hand brake and the rear of the car slows down, straightening up, unless u've over cooked it, then pulling the HB will result in a spin ;) it works very well in theory, but is feckin hard to get right.. I think the reason it seems more violent and less smooth, is because it's more extreme and dangerous, much better to watch IMO..
I'll try to find a vid to demonstrate :)

thanks, it would be easier to understand with a video.
They tends to hold the drift before the corner using handbrakes
but it must be difficult to to hold without spinning off, that must
awhile to get used to it. The speed should be pretty fast, but
in a wet surface, what would be different? I dont thikn they
need the h-b anymore right?

also dabbing the footbrake will send more weight forward, which makes the rear lighter...
