Despite being laid up 'till I get my licence back, I'm about to stick a Hiper muffler on my '95 s14. Examining my stock exhaust there seems to be some kind of gadget attatched just before the final bend and box. It is a cilindrical metal thing about 1.5" long (attatched by a rubber bush) with a small arm pointing towards the front of the car which runs through a metal loop. Got that?
Well, anyone know what it's for? does it need transfering to the new zorst? I've tried downloading the s14 manual from various sites in order to find out but I can't seem to open the 1st part using winrar. Anyone help me there?
Cheers

I know the bit you're talking about, I just ditched it. It didn't seem to actually do anything, and I haven't had any problems with it removed.

That bit is the very example of why Jap cars have so much investment and research in them unlike crappy European cars
It is vibrational tuning to remove resonance or unwanted noise at certain speeds. Little tweaks like that make the SX such a refined car.
I bet you don't know why your clutch hydraulic system has an extra section of 10mm pipe from a T piece near the slave do you....
Nissan care about making beautifully sorted cars. Why couldn't the British Motor Industry keep up?

hi,
I think I know what your dangly bits are for. If it's like the one on my exhuast it's to help prevent you from mullering the differential by reversing over something.

He he! Nonsense Tom!
If that was the case, why would they mount it on an exhaust system which is mounted on a very expensive and delicate turbo? It would be mounted on the body if it was diff protection.
Believe me, it's for harmonic tuning.
Quiz:
What's the extra clutch pipe for?
