Can't get my head around this, but my commuter car has started to run very cold. The engine temp won't go above the 65 mark, previously it was around 75 80. Not sure but i seem to recall that a low engine temp on oil burners will affect combustion (Hence teh need for glow plugs), but it has seemed to have effected combustion, accelarating at certain RPM produces loads of vibration, but that maybe a different problem.

Just after some ideas really, i shall change the thermostat as a matter of course, maybe the temp sender aswell.

I'd say stat.
If it's running cold it'll probably be in cold stat mode most of the time so it'll run cack.

Can't see how temp sensor would make the engine run cold.

Cheers Jez, fairly certain its the stat too. My only thought with the sender was the fact that it is a fully electronic management system, if the sender was buggered it would give duff information to the ECU, hence the cack running and the a dodgy reading at the gauge.

Hows the 200 coming along now? Mine will be off the road untill 2005 by the looks of it. The sump is well and trully corroded so i have to change that, and if i'm changing that i thought i'd do the big ends, then i thought why not do the piston aswell...etc.

Not sure about this car but the S13 has seperate sensors for the ECU and gauge.

Ok actually (fingers crossed) it seems to be holding together at the min, all being well it will be finished early next year. :)

2005? That's, erm, ages.

Tell me about it, but the wife has gone back to uni and a want to buy a new bike next year so i need to rein my spending. I'll need the time to sort the rebuild about anyway.

To me the idea of that would do my bonce, but if you are easy with it it'll be ideal for getting the job done proplery with not rushing and stressing. :)

Sensiblibilty and patience isn't really my thing though, it'd be hell for me.
