View Full Version : Nissan option wheels?
Got caught out this week. I ordered four new Bridgestones for my S14 - and just ordered the standard sizes (205/55 16) 'cos my car has Nissan wheels.
But a closer look shows that they aren't the standard wheels - they've got 225/45 rubber on them. They're gold too - anyone know if these are a Nissan option? Or are they off something else? They are the same design as the silver standard wheels (I've got one of those as a spare)
Should be fine, they're just a different profile.
Can't see a problem with them on the Nissan 16inch wheels?
Gold? Hmmmmmmmmmm

225s eh ? Hmm, will they fit on standard rims OK ? I might well get myself a pair of those for the back. Bit more rubber won't hurt will it ?
I've seen the odd R33 skyline with loads of gold everywhere. Is your car an import Alan ?

The motahs not an import as far as I can make out - it says new at first registration on the V5. But it looks as if it was tricked up by the first owner - loads of receipts for work, stainless exhaust, boost upgrade etc. And the badges & aerial trim are all gold to match the wheels.
I just wondered if there was some sort of factory option on the wheels when new.
Could you really fit the wider 225/45 tyres on the standard rims? I've sent the 205s back to change for 225s anyway.
The previous owner could have had the wheels painted along with the other bits of trim?
I can't see a problems with putting slighty wider tyres on those rims.
I'll need rear tyres for mine soon, I'll see what price I can get 225/45/16's for.

The wheels (and other bits) aren't painted. The wheels have like an anodised finish and the badges etc all look anodised too. Not a paint finish.
Hmm, never seen this before.
Are the wheels like the standard S14 wheels in shape ?

Tom > You noticed the signature then, I was bored thought I'd mess around.
I haven't fitted the Strut Bar yet, I've lined it up on the car and it fits OK. Not sure whether to wait for the insurance renewal to put the bar on?
What do you reckon?
It's a very nice bit of kit, alumunium bar, powder coated ends, fully adjustable and an absolute bargain!

Yeah, I think I'll have to get one myself. Were they reasonably well set up for sending it over ? It was loads of hassle to get my mdm100 from the states.
I'll be interested to know how if it stiffens up body roll at all.
Insurance.... hmmph, do they really need to know ? Carry a socket set around with you, and just unbolt it before you need to claim ! Don't listen to me, that's probably very bad advice http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

It was easy getting it over here, took a bit less than a week by UPS.
Arrived in a well packed box, I had to give the UPS man £30 for import tax.
Simple.
The bar doesn't look immediately like a modification when it's bolted. Might put it on tomorrow, what the hell.
I'm renewing my insurance in two weeks, probably with Adrain Flux, suspension, exhaust mods are fine with them as long as they're declared.

Yes - they're the same shape.
I'll get a digi pic of them and put it up tomorrow.
I'm also gonna check th erim width to see if they are just standard sizes or wider.
The missus is away on holiday with her sister in it for the week....

Could the previous owner have, like, painted the standard wheels gold or something? Its pretty easy to do.
It really doesn't look like a paint finish. But I'm gonna check it really closely tomorrow when my good lady brings it back from holidays...

Sorry I didn't mean a DIY "can of paint from Halfords" job. A few places will strip the wheels down to bare metal (in an acid bath), paint them in the colour of your choice and then lacquer them. If done well it will look like they came from the factory like it.
Motah's back (safe and sound) and I think you may be right. A close look at the finish reveals a lacquered metallic finish, so it looks like they've just been painted.
I'm, gonna try and measure the rim width (oo-er) just to triple check.
