Hi,
Easy question this. Looks like the old rear brake pads are knackered. The pistons "screw" in and out don't they ? Can I get a tool to wind them back in from halfords or somewhere, will it fit ? Or do I have to go to the nissan robbing bastards ?
Cheers,

Tom

Assuming the rear calipers on the s13 are similar u should be able to force the pistons back using the following method.

Use the old pads to protect the piston and caliper then stuff a pair of unopened pliers in between the pads then open them.
Can be a bit tricky but given enough brute strength u should be OK, I managed to do both fronts and back like this.

Hi,
Well that would definitely work on the fronts, but I thought the back ones rotate as they go in ?

To wind the piston back in you turn it clockwise. Nissan do one of their famous "special tools" to do this but a decent pair of long nose pliers will do (90°circlip pliers are easier). The end of the piston has cut outs in it so just put the ends of the pliers in and twist.

Cheers,
Did it on friday night (in a thunderstorm http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif ), just in time too. The old pads had less than 1mm left on them !! Got a universal tool with about five different sets of locating pins on it in the end.
