Only on vehicles before chassis no 004260.
Several reports of whining noise- similar to a worn release bearing-coming from the clutch area. It is usually heard immediately after cold start and dissapears shortly afterwards.
releae bearing-sleeve/carrier-spigot/pilot bush.
Hope this helps http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Can this be fixed under warranty?

John.

If your car is still within its 3yr manufacturers warranty it is certainly covered. Note it will only be investigated on a complaint basis only. Remember if this is not the problem and the clutch is fine you may be charged for the cost of removing and refitting the gearbox.

I have the same problem with my s14. But since I bought it secondhand and it's from 1995, it doesn't have warranty anymore. How much would it cost to have it fixed? I heard that work on the clutch is very expensive due to long hours needed to disassemble and assemble the whole thing!
