What fuel are people using Unleaded or Super?
Have only used regular unleaded and was wondering if anyone has used Super and notices any differences??
thanks,
John.

I only ever use regular unleaded. When I'm not doing so many miles and I turn the boost up I'll probably switch to super.
Ben
I use normal unleaded too. I run standard boost, but if my boost guage isn't telling porkies, it holds 0.5-0.6bar solid up to the red line in all the gears (which is nice - although I haven't red lined it in 5th yet to be honest !)
Thanks guys,
I may have to see if super makes any difference. Though I am still impressed with the performance using regular unleaded after a year!!!
Tom, I can relate to not readlining in 5th!!!
Ben, Isn't your warranty nullified (cool word, it just came to me...) if you make any mods??

Hmmm warranty, doesn't run out till November ....
I'm putting it back to standard this weekend (just swap the exhaust back, remove the boost gauge - no big deal) and taking it to the garage to get the alarm fixed (plus hopefully get the annoying rattle sorted).
Also got a set of Eibach springs and Skyline GTR brakes waiting to go on, I was going to wait for the warranty to run out, but I just got carried away http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

Tom - might just be your boost gauge, but you should be able to get 0.7bar, mine seems to hold 0.5 up until about 6500rpm then it'll pull 0.7 if I keep my foot down.
Got up to 135mph the other day, was getting pretty close to the red line in 5th......
Ben
I know the feeling.. I was going to wait until my warranty runs out too and also until I acutally get onto the NCB ladder! But whats money for eh? SPENDING!!!!!
Am going to drop my car off with SE, they are nearing to me that ND. Gettting the Suspension, brakes and performance all done!!!!! Can't wait!!!!

Ben,
I'll have to have a closer squint at the boost next time then. It's down where the ashtray used to be, so I can really stare at it for too long. Seems to rev cleanly to the redline doesn't it ? I've taken it to 7,500 - ish concentrating on the road more than the rev counter, and it doesn't seem to mind too much. Famous last words, best not make a habit of it, could get a bit expensive http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
I got to an indicated 140 the other week for a bit, although I'm pretty sure it over-reads by 10%.
Tom
I only ever use super, in Japan they use a higher octane (?) fuel which is why the standard boost is set at 1 Bar (15PSI)....I think.
Ben, where and when are you getting the springs and Big B*stard brakes fitted? I think you will be v.happy with the outcome!

Ross, as soon as my wheels (18" OZ Superleggera's) arrive I'm going to change the wheels, springs and brakes at the same time (may also fit a HKS filter), I'll be doing it all myself as none of it is particularly tricky stuff (nothing I haven't done before on my S13).
Ben
P.S. I also put a boost gauge where the ashtray is, gets a bit dangerous when you're staring at it pulling 7000+ rpm in 4th!!! I'm going to move the gauge to the air vent in the door card.

Ben,
Yeah, someone sells a bit of plastic which replaces the air vent, can't remember who exactly, but it's about £160 or something isn't it ? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
But what bugged me was how to get the vacuum hose safely through the door hinge.
I'm pretty sure they have high octane stuff in japan. I wonder if it's as expensive as ours... almost bought my boost actuator Ross, but now I need a new exhuast system so it's got to go on hold. Bought your AP-22 yet ?

In Japan, I believe they use 100 RON fuel. I'm going to have to run my car on Super (97 RON) as a minimum and possibly use an octane booster if I increase the boost pressure over standard.
So, the Silvia runs at 15PSI standard? The max power is rated at about 220PS (is "PS" the same as horsepower BTW?) Does this equate to what you would expect at that boost level?

I'm picking up a spare pair of door cards, so I'm going to have a go at butchering the vents myself, shouldn't be too hard to get it looking good.
The hose for the boost gauge is pretty stiff plastic, should be fine just feeding it through with the wires for the speakers.
Also, you're right about Japan having 100ron fuel, you could run super + octane booster or just get a new chip (Read somewhere that Power Engineering could remap a Scooby ECU to give the same power output on 95ron fuel, so its more than likely it'll work on a 200sx)

I've previously spoken to TDi about it. He basically said there was no point, as I would get much better MPG with super, wiping out the savings.
Also the method they recommended, if I did want to do it was fitting an HKS FCON-V piggyback ECU. At around a grand http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif I thought f**k it! At least as far as getting TDi to do it anyway.

Standard car runs on normal unleaded, as this is what its set up for , unless its a grey import. 4 star/octane booster - wtach out for your cat , dont want it melting do we.
