View Full Version : Subaru Pickup
Saw a Subaru Pickup 4x4 1800 on a "H" plate today.
Where can I get one of these, and are they expensive? They've got the best rear swoop into the load bay I've ever seen, would look stunning as a "rat" car and no doubt would be cheapeer than the Starion...
Search Farmer's weekly, clod-hopper monthly for these things - they are the Farmers friend...
Fact: Subaru used to advertise their cars as: "fastest thing on the farm" (mainly by virtue of the fact it weren't a tractor)
I think they said on Top Gear they used to sell them at tractor dealers when they first started importing

they want about £3995 for one!!!
Rollox to that... wouldn't have paid more than 500 for the one I saw today...
but they do look like fun
Woo!!!

in fact, here is a p/chop project for a few of you who have a minute and if you can find a good brat pic - I can only spy the little ones.
I would like the car dropped, repainted to Duke of Hazard, added chrome of the body edges and a set of bigger wheels - protruding from the bodywork if need be at the back (maybe even 2.6l WB Starion Wheels as they are really deep dished) and anything else that you feel like...

somewhat better

I'd frankly be amazed if you could find a Subaru of that vintage that hadn't been eaten by rust. Things like that should cost pennies, asking 4k for one is taking the mick.
well if you see one for pennies...
apparently they did rust a bit, hence relative rarity I suppose...
The one I saw today would have been worth little, hence the rat car look... get it, some black hammerite and play...
You'll be saying you like the look of these next

Like a money pit.
:(
to be honest, it doesn't sound that bad...
and the Starion is going to be going soon and I'll need something to replace it and would rather have something interesting than crap.
Plus I want to do all the aforementioned things to it :D

In that case you'll have to chuck out all the Janis and prog rock and replace it with sixtoedbanjopluckindeliveranceliving country.

But they are crap. They were crap when they first came out, and they're crap now. Slow, noisy not very reliable by Jap standards and rusty as hell. Surely a HiLux would be a better 4x4 pickup bet?
but HiLux's are fecking awful! I've driven one and really hated it...
plus they don't have the look...
I may jsut do a D...
