View Full Version : Scottish Drift Team?
Hey
Anyone interested in starting some sort of regular drift practice in the new year? We could meet once a month at Crial or something? Just a thought but would be a good laugh.

dunno? we've been to Crail, rollin roadin, monthly meets and Knockhill. Probably about time someone else came up with another "event" we could all go to. Paintballing looks like a good idea? Someone else mentioned matrix at IMAX..? Keep those ideas coming! What about a BBQ on Aberdeen beach?

just think about that for a moment Tonnie.
now think of previously organised events............
now think of how many injuries we get.
we could do a bring a buddy thing though, if my hundred is off the road, ill jump in with Jonny/martin/mike etc etc etc
Kev:D :D :D
Doesn't have to be at crail but think driffting is the way forward. The English guys are already way ahead in this department, especially in terms of having regular organised drift events. Fair enough its not for everyone but all of us who do enjoy it have got some catching up to do. Reckon there would be at least three people consistantly interested in something like this (Midgers, some guy in dark blue S13 who's always at crail and me) but haven't put it forward to any of them so could be worng.
We've already gathered a fair bit of interest in this here. (http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61366)

I'd be up for it..... if i'm gonna have to travel a few hundred miles to go drifting i'd rather it was 200 miles north :D
Good good good
E-mailed Crail a few hours ago;
Hi
I am regularly at Crail events but will be sad to see it close in the winter. On this note I would like to know if it would be possible to arrange winter use of the airfield for number of people. I am a member of the 200sx sight and am currently trying to guage interest. I seems that many of us would like to use the skid pan (and wouldn't need anyone there
to put diesil on it) and possibly we could set up some sort of track(but wouldn't need anyone to time our laps). Please get back to me to let meknow if this is a possibility.
Thanks in advance
Shaiz Khan
They promptly replied;
This is not a problem.we do track days at a minimum of 10 participants @ £35.00 per driver with a deposit of 1/2 the fee paid up front to book date(£175.00).For this you get a circuit set up 2 styles a long one and a short one run at different times or just the single one depending on yourselves, finishing off with untimed drag racing and use of the oval from 10 AM to 3.30 PM. If this is of interest email back the dates you have in mind and I will forward what's avilable.
Regards
Crail Raceway
Basically I think its a bit optimistic to get everyone to turn out every fortnight through the winter but once every 3 or 4 weeks would still be great. Possibly they'd let us use it slightly cheaper depending on exactly what we are going to use and how often. If we can't get enough people from here we can ask people from SS-R or some other clubs. No point getting the track in November because normal Crail will still be on. Say we keep it to a Sunday anyone got any prefered dates in December?
Any day but Christmas day :D
Good work !

willie is a bawbag at times
SSR had it booked for next week, been booked for ages and a few comformation emails went back and forth.
Yesterday after someone mentionin it to him he said, em, no u cant have it , we forgot about something else. So were cancellin u.
And I think its only cause it was brought up with him yesterday that he told us.
If not we would of all turned up next week and be told where to go.
grrrrrrrrrrrr
But SSr might have the day next sunday if any of u r up for it or in the club already and aint noticed.
WEre going to try and do it a bit different from usual big runs like in that email, and set up a big long corner to drift around, and set up driver challenges and slalams (sp) and things
Organised as ever at CRail. grrrrrrrrrr
WE then asked for a discount since he ****ed up and he said no

I'll be up for this aswell. Since owning a 200, I've never experienced the drifting and handling of it. Think it about time me and my ***** get to know each other:D
I'll have to wait til winter till I get my car on the road.

You don't see me running at the RR day ;) :p :p
When you picking up the S13 Dunc?
Why not put it on the rollers and see how it goes, gives you something to build on.

Getting it this weekend but not insuring till my renewal is due in December so couldn't really get it there. It'll be modded for it first hitting the road anyway, I'm assuming that the fresh(ish) engine will stand up to a good beasting before giving in - thats the theory anyway
Right had a look at a callender and some Sundays this winter include:
14th Dec
4th Jan
25th Jan
15th Feb
Lets deal with the 14th Dec. first cause its the closest.
Please just post if you're deffinately up for this date and willing to pay the £35. We could set up one track primarily for driffting and one for grip as well as enjoying the oval. If we get 10 people I'll se if its available and book it. If we can't get quite 10 I'll se if I can round up some troops from elsewhere.

Are spectators allowed to watch. I have never been to Crail before, and I think trying to drift my non turbo Diesel Fiesta Van would not be that much fun  But I would travel down to see some idiots go sideways in their 200's:thumbs:

The first thing i think of when drifting is involved is Mr M going sideways on the oval @ Crail. i aint seen him for a while now anyone know where he is?

Well my mum 's got a titanium rolling pin and eats Marvel comic characters for breakfast (except siperman who wouldn't be tasty because of the webs)
Okay enough with the mums. Whose up for the 14th Dec? Not suitable-suggest another date. I need to find out if its thumbs up to be used on the day.
mittomattomappedoodledo (or whatever his name is) Said hes gonna be a regular attender up here soon

Yes indeedy
Doyle, you never offered :(
;)
Excellent. Will you be in UK on the 14th Midgers? If so hope I can count you in and we can discuss this further; will probably see you at Crail before that anyway. That would mean we're currently on 3 for Dec. 12th, including myself. Evil_scooby are you a member of SS-R? If so could you post a link to this site or just see if anyone would be up for the 12th?
