I get my 200 in 13 days, I can't wait, the power the RWD....... any way back to the point, I want a dump valve, I really like the HKS Sequential blow-off one but to say the least they are a bit expensive. Are there other cheaper good one's. I love the sound they make. I could try and steal my brothers, but he may kill me! is it worth it?

Try the Bailey Evo (DV26) dump valve. It has a great sound and is less than £100 including fitting kit.

You're S14 will come with a dump valve but it will be a recirc type, meaning it's silent.

There is supplier who sells it cheap but I can't remember they're name. I'm sure someone else will.

Just found the website:
www.raldes.co.uk (http://www.raldes.co.uk)

Check under the Bailey link on the left hand side.

Also, you'll need an uprated dump valve if you start playing with the boost pressure. Do you want the ppppssssshhhhhtttt sound, if so you'll want a vent to atmosphere type as opposed to a recirc.

Hope this helps.

If you ring Bailey they will do you a fitting kit even though its not listed.

Sure, the HKS sqv's are expensive but they look and sound the best. Try www.takakaira.com (http://www.takakaira.com) and look the sqv up (silvia 93 - 99), it works out at around £165 with postage £10 - £30 extra depending on weight (£30 for 2kg).

Hmm, perhaps a cheaper dv may be better afterall....

Why oh why do people like fitting dump valves? I know it should be because it helps prevent turbo stall and turbo lag during gear changes but there are so many fukwitts out there that are just after the sound of a dump valve.

I personally find that really really waanky.
The S14 is already fitted with a recirculatary dump valve system which is even better than a "pssssst" one as it recirculates the induction charge and pumps it back into the intake!

I am nearly red in the face!

Enjoy and lads, stop fitting big tail boxes and dump valves. Leave that to the Max Power Brigade!

hehe, sounds good mate, lets keep our 200's standard so's we don't look max powery and we can abandon most of what the forum is here for!! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

understand what ur saying mate, and it is personal preference, but i guess the Japs do all this stuff, and i see them as being far from townies, they are gods at tuning, so i follow that....not doing it for thesake of it though, i want more power so i modify, and the dump valve that is going on next week is down to the fact i don't want my vey expensive turbo's blades shattering at high boost!!!!

Yeah well I just bought a vent to atmosphere HKS dump valve. I like the sound!! I also have a big tail box http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/redface.gif (and 90 odd mm piping and high flow cat!).

My new BBC is on 'da way!!

Wow! Thanks for being so restrained!
I know it's personal preferance and my policy is:

Mods for performance = cool
Mods for sound = not cool

See you at Goodwood on Saturday?
You can see (but not hear) my quiet car!

To enhance performance u need a better, free flowing exhaust which in turn will be louder. How do u not have a loud free flowing exhaust, I've heard the super dragger is quiet but it also costs like 600 odd quid. And dump valves do sound good!

The reason you replace dump valves is because the stock one won't like pressures in excess of 15psi. You can get uprated recirc valves.

Replacing exhausts with a larger diamter mandrel bent system helps the engine breathe better and eliminates flat spots!!!

Are you going to Goodwood to watch the Nissan racing this weekend?

I'm with you on this one. Non recirculating valves always remind me of a Volvo (the 18 wheel variety). http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

Really? I presume the Norris Designs ND270 package includes an uprated dump valve then, since it runs at 17psi. I would hope so anyway.

Each to his own and all that. We all have our personal preferences on what we do to our cars.

Anyway, I wouldn't class a BOV, large bore exhaust or induction kit as "just for sound" mods. They do have the effect of making the car noisier. An exhaust and filter can make a sizable horsepower gain on a turbo car with restrictive OE components. The stock BOV doesn't cope with high boost very well. Maybe a recirculating BOV is better for cars with air flow meters, but like I said, I like the sound and don't really care what anyone else thinks about that..

But if I one day fit fake oversized brake discs or a "big bore" exhaust trim on a standard system or any other really tasteless crap on your site, then please shoot me!!

Wise words Papa.

What I do to my car, I do for me. If other people like it, then I'm glad, that's great. If they don't, well I don't really give a rats arse!
