I've let this fester for too long and need to air it...

London Townies.

ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHH

Take this example.

At my last job, we had one of the manager's mates in to help us out for a week or two. Very intelligent, and very motivated, she had spent time working in London on car mags and also in political arenas inc TV.

She was also a plummy preppy and had picked up the "cool language of the moment".

Cue conversation
"So I went back to [previous school] and they were all like
'You're having a bubble!'.
I mean, where are they getting this stuff?!?!"

My initial, non vocalised reaction was:
"Life isn't London, dear. Get over it." But instead I smiled sweetly

F'ing Townies

A bubble?

I spend a lot of my time selling in London to trading houses and investment banks where proper cockney slang is just part of the language

A bubble to me is a piss

bubble & squeak = leak :smash:

I speak in slang most of the time:

The other night, I got a lobster up the frog to go have a pigs at the rubber - me plates were killing me. When I got down the nuclear, my old china streaky was there with his bread Catherine - they were chowing down on a ruby. Some joe came in and was dogging catherine, so streaky rared up and gave him a fancy in the glass. When the rozzers showed, all hell broke loose - there was britneys flying everywhere ..............
I could go on :)

Bubble is one of a couple that have two meanings - greek "Nick the bubble" and laugh "Your having a bubble intcha?" :)
Giraffe is also used for laugh, but can also mean half. A giraffe is also a "long neck donkey" :)
