House is overrun with the buggers, the one that lives on my bin is pretty big. The one that lives in my gas meter box could eat a bird :indiff:

I just pick them up and chuck them out of the nearest window

I like spiders, they eat the bad bugs in the house, so I'm with Ken, when they bother the wife, pick 'em up and throw them outside.

some i chuck out the window (glass and bit of card style) and other more evil looking ones must die instantly
they are all evil!
they would serve no purpose if flys and other stupid insects did not exist.

What's the "Hover" way of doing it? do you sort of levitate above them some how?;)

I leave them alone unless they get so big they look like they might throw me out.

I hate flies, mosquitoes, etc:mad: so like spiders.

How long do they live for, 'cause some of the ones in my house are long term lodgers?

Cant stand spiders, and "squish" is a bit of an under statement. Anything bigger than a 10p gets the biggest thing I can find belted over it a few times - they generally end up liquidised :D

Glass and paper method for me - although I've had a few that won't fit into the pint glass - I just threaten to charge them rent and they leave soon enough :-)

I just stand and scream and normally someone else gets rid of em

either get someone else to squish them in a tissue and dispose of...

or jump on the, drop a PC case on them or chase them around with a hockey stick

Glass and piece of paper for me if they are big or I take them in my hands, and put them in the garden, but only when:
- They are really big
- They walk in my bedroom...

I like spiders and insects in general: they have so many things to teach us ...- in fact, I HATE flies and mosquitos...

I go with the old Lynx and a lighter technique.
Do a search for foggys techniques of getting rid :)

Spiders usually get squished unless the wife is around, she wants them 'releasing outside'! :smash:

I hate fly's mainly bluebottles, but the cat usually takes care of them, she belts about the house after them knocking everything over in her way, then pounces on them, or grabs them in her claw, and then proceeds to eat the little buggers!

Usually try to capture them with a glass and piece of paper, then put them in the bath or out of a window.

However if they are threatening my sleep and liable to scuttle over me in the night then they will be removed at all costs, including the use of mr Lynx deodorant + lighter or squish... or worse muhahahahhaaa :D

ps. I had a bad experience with a spider walking across my face/pillow that woke me up, boy did I freak as the bastid was sitting about an inch from my eye on the pillow

well, there is an easy way of getting rid of all pests:
go and watch on sky, around channel 640 theres this new thing that gets rid of them by emmiting some kind of signal that fooks up their nervous system and they run off, the only bad thing is that if u have rats, hamster, mice etc it'll mess them up too

the thing only costs about £20 i think + £99999 postage and packaging

bosh the buggers i say :smash:

I usually have to save their hairy, little lives.

We“ve got 2 cats, who love such little creatures, that run away from them... *munchie*

So, I prefer the glas&paper-method.

I hope that when I experience the judgement day, there will be no charge at me from the spiders, because I always tried to save them... http://www.hatzer.at/forum/images/smiles/nut.gif

squish them if I've got shoes on or
zap them to death with bug spray if
I've got nothing on my feet.
Most of the spiders here can give you
a nasty bite:(

I have to kill them If i see one or think i see one, i have to find it and i have to kill it.

Anyone seen Phil Jupitus' sketch (on the quadrophobia video)about spiders? So funny! Anyone who doesnt like spiders will crease up!!

You know what i hate? When, usually a girl, is screaming at you to get rid of one but won't let you kill it... I mean, come on! "YOU DO THE GLASS AND POSTCARD THING THEN!!"

:smash: Hehe!

Seriously, watch the Phil Jupitus sketch! I gotta dig it out...

Dunc's lodger "Bruce" disagrees.
Unless of course he gets a new bin to live on.

Here's a pic of Bruce the bin spider, taken back when he stayed at his old digs (my tailgate). He has put on alot of weight since this pic was taken:-

He's a baby! We have loads of those dangling from our trees and rear fence, evil looking spiders aren't they!

I had a smaller one hiding in my rear fog light, it survived a 60 mile journey down the A12 to clacton too! the git clambered out again from whence he was hiding when I got there! That some mad grip they have!

We have and old gas box in the garden, this is spider haven as it is damp, dark and hardly disturbed. I have seen, 'large black things' running around when I open the door, I expect they are some pretty big 'freds' (nan used to have a large pet spider called fred who lived in the bath, hence all spiders are called fred to me). Perhaps I can get a pic :D

My biggest spider "Bobby" lives in the gas box, I suspect he's mutated hulk stylie from constant exposure to the gas.

Personally, I place them by my window - or in an undisturbed corner so they can eat all the annoying flys that try to get in.
I have a small community of them sharing my room now. :smash:
Including a hooge house spider that seems to have taken up extreme sports. He's made several attemps at scaling the front of my cuboard - which is perfectly smooth - the furthest I've seen him get so far is half way up, then he fell off and scuttled under the book shelf looking embaresed :wack:

Hayley

Once I finish screaming like a big girl, and get down from the table or sofa, if the dog doesn't get to them first I will either throw something and hope to hit them  or spray them with hairspray to slow them down and then hoover them up

Does anyone else think them daddy-long-legs are just like flying spiders? Been running around screaming cause of them a bit lately

I work on the Railway and we see some monsters in our locations.
Round Durrington way, they seem genetically enhanced, as the leave webs that are so sticky, we can hang our meters on them.

We got one called Boris in one of our rooms, he's got a sly wink. So we leave him alone.

i always used to be massively arachnaphobic (sod typing that again)

over the years i've eventually taught myself to be able to pick them up to put them outside (never fails to amaze me how much this small act impresses girlfriends)

yesterday i found a huuuge spider crawling over my cossie IC (on my bedroom floor) so i opened the door, went to scoop him up in my hand...

.. and the damn thing ran like linford christie - straight up my arm and onto my shoulder! :o

the guy walking past in the corridor was highly amused by my girly shriek!

(there are some spiders i won't pick up - namely the camel spiders we find in the desert when i'm out there - they pick you up and throw you out of the tent if you disturb them)

Stu
26-09-2004, 22:31
Leave an old wing mirror on the floor as this should attract them. You can then dispose of them by advertising them on ebay as a performance upgrade.

Absolutely. I'm not as frightened of them as spiders, but I will not allow one to remain alive in my room.

One aspect of these little bastards that I find absolutely fascinating - how did they evolve to make webs? All other life forms evolve from mutations that make them more effective than their contemporaries. I can understand how the early spiders would evolve; one day, they would appear with the ability to produce the web substance - but where did the behaviour come from to construct the webs?

Another question that one of you may be able to answer - you get garden spiders that stay in their websand eat flies, and never bother you. Then you get the big ****ers that come into the house to make friends with your face, and don't seem to make webs - what do they eat? How do they survive? How do they hunt their prey?
