Is it easy to change the front end to the later model s14 style? I'm looking to buy and know i'll be swayed by the aggressive front end, even if it's a worse car...

Worse car? What all that rubbish about? Essentially they are the same car, slight styling differences. An additional catalytic converter, different steering wheel, side skirts. Same engine..... need I say any more?
As for putting the S14a front on the S14. Unless you have got bags of money, buy and S14a.

I suspect whaat he means is that for a given amount of money, he will have a 2nd hand choice between good condition late 14's and or s14a's in worse condition. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

And that is the quandry - a IMO nicer looking car with 100+k miles on or an older one with less miles. Is it worth buying a high mileage one?
Thanks
I took the gamble and went for the high mileage option when I got mine. Can't say I've regretted it.
Only problem is, no-one will buy it off me by the time I want to get rid of it, because then mileage will be astronomical, but there we are eh ?
Tom
I know that feeling Tom. I got mine with 54,000 on it, it now has 70,000. However, every service has been with Nissan and the car still feels solid.
I blew a Turbo Gaskett at 68,000 but that was my own fault. Just an excuse to get the Hybrid T28.
So, Japmobile, if you have plans on keeping the car for any length of time get a S14a high miler. If you got the pre-facelift S14 you you may end up wishing you hadn't every time you see a later one on the road. Looks wise, I think they are both subtile and cool!

i do 18k miles a year anyway so there's no point paying a premium for low mileages, but as long as the car will remain reliable, i'll keep it. I can always get simon norris to do a rebuild with a few extras.. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif Time to start test driving and getting quotes!
Thanks people!

Well, if you are free on Sunday and can bear with a drive to Bristol it would be well worth coming to the Rolling Road session. I reckon there must be around 25-30 cars going now.
It would give you a good idea on what to look out for and an opportunity to chat with a load of owners.

errrrrr.... Oooooooppppppps http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Get an S14a. I was in the same boat as you, was doing a lot of mileage a year. Bought the car with 32K on the clock and now has 54K. But due to change of work I am only doing about 5K a year now. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif Planning on keeping it until it stops working, then getting an R34 http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Converting an S14 front end to an S14a one is not going to be a cheap option. I have the original type S14 and I rather like it. I think it looks like a R33 Skyline from some angles. It could look more aggressive though so I was thinking about shoving a big FMIC up front, and if funds permit, getting an aftermarket bumper to fit it in.

Nice stock selection. But, Jeezus, they're making some fat mark up on those though! When I was buying my car I had a look at the GTR's and what price they were selling at (in Japanese auctions). A really nice R32 or early R33 were going for around 2 million yen (£11,500 ish). Exceptional examples were maybe 2.5 million. Even later, nearly new ones were going for around 4 million (£23,000).
Pappa,
I know what you mean about the R33 look, why dont you get a GTR front splitter? They really look the business...I dont think they are cheap but worth it I reckon...
Try SE Nissan, a few of the guys on the board have them.

Yeah Tom,
But on the upside, every time you smash it up by forgetting which direction to look in when you're reversing, you've lost less money in real terms. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Mark,
If you haven't done it already, try posting this as its own topic in the general or wanted forums. You'll get more notice that way.
John.
