I have read a few threads about the alarm and adjuster are hidden behind the ash tray.

Well my ultrasonic needs adjusting a bit so I popped out the ash tray armed with my pot adjuster and..... nofin.. nowt..

Any ideas as to where else the may have strapped these things in??

The 14a has the alarm behind/below the ashtray. As you say, its not there on the 14. There is a control box with adjuster underneath the centre console. Undo both bolts on the floor of the centre console cubby, and you should be able to lift the rear of the console up. The box is just stuffed up in the space between the recess for the cubby and the wall of the console. I'm pretty sure this controls the alarm.

From previous post it has become clear that there are at least two (may be 3)different alarms fitted to the S14. I'm sure a ultrasonic sensor is not fitted to mine (you can see these)but need to be convinced a microwave sensor is fitted (They can be hidden as long as it is not behind metal) Is it this behind the ash tray?).

My alarm sounder under the bonnet has the sensitivity adjustment (for shock sensing not sure about movement sensitivity).

The Plot thickens.....

Me thinks me has the same as you.

And my alarm detects people using microwave ovens as well, not ultrasonic as I first thought.

I have one detector on the front of the dash next to the windscreen, thought it was a ultrasonic.
