Right, i've been away a while. Been doing me some thinking.... :annoyed:
I want a new toy, and Project Jim is gonna go.
In her place will be a 5.7L V8 Pontiac Trans-am.

Anyone out there into their Yank cars? Anyone have any info for me? Advice?
Cheers y'all. ;)
(On a side note, post any interest up here for the car. A proper For Sale thread will go up in due course. Unsure about price as yet, and likewise whether it will be broken or sold complete.)
Dibs on exhaust :D
EDIT: Btw, hello  That Pontiac looks a little meaty :D

Skip used to have a Mustang 5.0 V8 before he bought his R33, he might know something about these cars, try PM'ing him :)
Whahay! :D
So, you want to know what its like to have a V8 muscle beast on UK roads? Well, if it is to be your only car I would say to beware that the MPG will be dire and it can be a pain in car parks and stuff, and overtaking on two lane roads can be interesting without a passenger who you trust!! The main bugbear I had with the Mustang was the complete lack of handling, I live in the country where there are lots of twisty two lane roads and the poor old Stang was just not really up to it, something that could have been fixed if I had thrown enough money at it, but I just didnt have the money or the patience, hence the R33!!
I miss it a lot though, you cant beat the feeling of having that V8 muscle under your right foot, and the sound of it is just sublime, I fitted a totally destricted exhaust to mine with an off road (read illegal in the US - too loud! :D ) X-pipe and a pair of Flowmaster mufflers (loud!) and it was just dreamy... :smitten:
In the future I intend to get a 70-71 Challenger/Barracuda... one day!
Anyway, for a while I had this choice when I stepped outside, it was nice while it lasted!!

I love these Firebirds, and they are quick too, you will be looking at 13s on the 1/4 mile straight out of the box!! :notworthy

You have good taste then too Danielle! :) See the yanks do get it right sometimes!! :D
fook me Jim you just got shares in Shell or something  I would love one as a toy but must cost a bomb to run day to day
I had a 5.7l cadillac seville before my 200 and although its not quite in the same leauge as the firebird it was fantastic fun.The sound the V8 makes is just awsome and the backend would break away if you so much as touched the peddle.Unfortunatly the 12 miles to gallon finally got to my wallet and I had to give her up.
Still it made the 200 seem almost economical

Nearly bought one of these (Barracuda) a few years back. Got as far as Exeter, rang up for directions and he had sold it. That was a sad drive home. I hate people who sell things when you are on your way. :furious:
Next will be a corvette for me. Nearly sold the 200 for one.

Yeah, it was one of my considerations when it came to having to choose what to have as one car, the Mustang used to manage about 170-200 miles on £45 worth of Optimax, worst I saw was about 150 on one tank! At least the Skyline can muster 250 out of that sort of amount.. wow... :wack:

'cudas are well cool, but they arent cheap for a good one, and they arent really very practical for an everyday car!
Corvettes are luscious too, something like this would be nice....

Some Points ...
- 6-Speed LS1 (346cid) F-Body's get over 30mpg (~35mpg in UK) on the highway.
- They will run a 12 second time with a lid (intake box mod) and a cut-out (openable flange on the exhaust to bypass mufflers)
- They handle MUCH better than your typical ancient mustang box, er I mean fox.

Me being dumb.
I respect the old muscle but after driving turbo I dont know if I could go back. The V8s I have driven didnt seem to pull all the way through the revs. I will forever love the sound of a V8 though.
GM is the brand to go with on American Muscle though, right Freak?

Depends which side of the fence you sit on, but apart from the fact I owned a Mustang, I am firmly on the bowtie side... :smash:
