I've just read http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nissans13/message/30941 and am wondering exactly how the rather expensive ND Hyper Turbo offered by the good chap Mr Norris would stack up against the competition. The whole low-lag, good-for-400bhp statement seems singlehandedly to justify the cost, as the HKS turbo's that put out big power like that, and some of these T3/T04 jobs seem to have huuuuge off boost periods, well over 1000rpm later than normal. Anyone got any info on the ND Hyper?

interesting that the S14 T28 comes in the TO4B housing yet the pulsar GTIR has standard T3 housing. I thought the 2 were the same.. My mate has a T3/4 hybrid in a T4OB housing. Which in my mind means the S14 rocks and the pulsar doesnt. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
Chimp logic.

I guess the Hyperbearing turbo is worth the cash for total perfectionists, but lag is my friend. Been in 2 T3/4 cars now and Id settle for them, and spend the rest on a damn good holiday http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif I like the wait, then the slap of a few hundred horses behind you. Also gives plebs the illusion they are about to pull away from you until the hooge turbo spins up and they go backwards, quickly. yeehaaaaa

What are the specs for the ND turbo? Is it roller bearing? what are the ratios? Need more info....

Personally I'd go for the GT2530 its a straight bolt on (for both s13 and s14), roller bearing (zero lag!) and can flow enough for 300+bhp.

Ahh Chimp, didn't read your post..

Some of the stuff posted on that site really confuses me. When they start talking about what boost you can run I think they are actually talking about what boost you can run with crappy low octane fuel (OZ has like 92RON fuel).

They say that a GTiR tubby can only run 16psi, WTF people on this site are running more than that on a T25 (go figure!)

I've also heard that the GTiR has a stronger block than the S14 (its the same one that was used for the BTCC primeras). Anyone know if its a straight swap??

I am under the impression that GTIR's are pants, i think its far easier to mod the S13/14. The gtir needs internals changing at +16psi according to ND. Ok you could run a bigger turbo at 16 psi instead but its hardly a cheap option. Im glad I own what I do, despite it being broken! So maybe their 16psi ceiling is due to the weird engine.

and where we have silly wing mount intercoolers, it could be worse, it could be sat ontop of the rockercover soaking up lovely heat from the engine http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

God knows if the blocks can be changed, better the devil you know http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah baby - this is the kiddy!
This is what I'd like, who knows, if I can just put up with the saggy old T25 ****brid I've got now for little while, get some forged pistons, a handful of 500+cc injectors, a rolling road for a day, I might just blow the expense.......errrr I did say might!
Seriously though, £3500(ish) for that is in my opinion WAY too steep.
Greddy (Trust) do a bolt on turbo kit and also a full Turbine kit.
The bolt on turbo gives you a unit ready to bolt on (DOH) which is a roller bearing turbo. I'd like one of these, but be warned - because of the roller bearings there is less inertia on them and therefore you could encounter overspool. This would require a dump valve to make sure you dont snap your shiny new turbo shaft in two - well thats what the Greddy man told me anyway!
The turbine kit, which in effect is what ND is offering, consists of a turbine, external wastegate, manifold (tubilar if deemed neccesary by Greddy), elbow to front pipe and front pipe to cat. It also comes with lots of foil type heat shielding to protect your ABS pump an that.
I saw the man unwrap a Skyline single turbo conversion the other day - the tubular manifold was an absolute work of art and the turbo the size of a dinner plate - the same in fact as Glens R34 (T6 KYO) at JAPS last weekend.
Met a GtiR buff running at the Pod a while back and his car had been worked over Proper by ND. He said the reason why they had gone (were going for in fact) a Greddy turbo was because the HKS turbos gave too much back pressure, so make of it what you will.
One things for sure, the Greddy turbo/turbine kits aren't as expensive as you think when you realise what you're getting for the money - (well, sort of!)
Hope this helps,
Matt
