My S13 keeps overheating, there is no water getting in the cyclinders or appearing from the exhaust. It has been compression tested and is fine, but after about 10mins overheats.

Checked thermostat, head gasket is not old as it was changed when I rebuilt it.

Any suggestions?

By the way hello people I am a new guy!

I would try the thermostat, then check that the waterpump is working. Sure the temp gauge is correct?

When it says its hot, turn the engine off and follow the water pipes and feel if any are actually cold. Not sure how the heater matrix things work in 200's but i have had trouble there in the past.

Welcome to the party.

Have you checked your water pump?

You may well have an air blockage in the system although usually speaking 200s are pretty good. When it does overheat or gets to midway on the gauge turn the heater on and to hot and see if hot air is coming out if its cold you have air in there somewhere and you need to bleed it out, I would drain the system and refill properly then see if she still overheats ! Are you losing water anywhere, I seemed to be losing water for ages and couldn't for the life of me see where from until one day it started overheating and I found the little bastid at the side of the block just behind the starter motor.

Cheers guys, I have flushed the system and checked the thermostat, also got a compression test done again just in case. All ok! even got a new sensor, it always reads in the middle now an so far has not overheated.
