View Full Version : That thorny aerial issue

When I got my S13 the aerial had been disconnected for some time - for whatever reason - and the bottom section (stainless steel) was totally corroded into the body mount. And I mean TOTALLY. And the locking ring on the mount itself was welded solid as well. So I took a hacksaw to it. When I discovered that a genuine Nissan replacement was £145 I went to (everybody make signs of the cross at this point please, as if to ward off vampires) Halfords and bought one of their "premium" electric aerials although it had lost its label and I got it for the price of the "regular" variety ie. £39.99. In order to get the aerial-body earth right I scavenged the properly angled earth from the old aerial along with its rubber mounting, which gives the correct angle for the inside wing. The wiring's a pain because (as you'd expect) nothing appears to be straightforward in these cars and contradicts the (sign of the cross again please) Halfords instructions...but hey! It appears to work.
