Low idle when its cold?

hi my car has very low idle (400-500rpm)when its cold then after a minute i become good and runs at 850rpm any ideas?

could be that the air temp unit is faulty or needs cleaning, it basically has a bi metal strip inside that detects air temp and signals the idle speed. It is located to the left of the water pump and below the air intake to the manifold. Its a swine to get at as it has the pipe to the water pump in the way as well as the bolts being in a fiddly place. You could try dumping some carb or brake cleaner through it or replacing it with the modified one from a late model - Nissan part no 2266093L00 regulator assy (about £84 +vat)
