I thought this was the Non 200SX related section though
It is a non 200 area where the thread was but I opened the thread ideal woman while my misses is on the pc next to me and quickly closed it. Don't appreciate being made to feel uncomfortable by other people...
perhaps a link instead and a warning to other users would be better...

How about putting NSFW or something in front of a thread title which could be seen as dodgy?
Whys this now a Sticky
Becuase it was a general statement, not just directed at you feisty...
There was an incident earlier in the day where someone put something up that shouldnt have been there so for a couple of days i reckon it should be a sticky....

First off, let me make it clear I am not having at a go at anyone. And I'm not speaking for anyone else but myself either. If someone has a problem with mod / admin, I would expect them to be able to resolve it between themselves. If anyone has a problem with -ME-, I would expect someone to PM / email me so we can identify the problem (except J595has you crazy loon)
As keith mentions in his post linked above, threads on non 200sx that are just pure "shite" from non-members can/will be closed.
My own view and experiences on here are that many threads tend to repeat themselves. Someone will post something (humour, music, some other car) and then people will start to reply.
Now assume something gets posted on another day that relates in some way to this first thread. The conversation will start back up again and without fail old points will get re-mentioned.
Then as the threads are viewed, these old comments get sent as part of the thread to the viewer. Now obviously the person doing the reading isn't going to have much of a problem with this in most cases. However that data's being retransmitted from SXOC and thus is using bandwidth. Add to that each image involved in a post (the buttons along to bottom to PM someone, their avatar, etc). Then add how many regular and semi-regular people will look at this thread, reload this thread, post on the thread etc.
Now I'm not aware of the hosting details of SXOC because it does not concern me. That's something Keith will be fine with. However I believe I'm fairly aware of how much data, not in megabytes by gigabytes, gets sent from this place each month. It's a lot! Therefore my own reasoning was to try and calm the traffic down to save money if at all possible. Because I would think all money saved on hosting, means more money available for the club!

Totally valid points Andy but I also feel she was jumped on a bit! No-one else got stickyfied post treatment as an example!!!
Dave
Dave read the post, the thread wasnt aimed solely at feisty, .... as i stated there was more than one instance of dodgyness on the board yesterday...
The sticky thread wasn't aimed exclusively at her, but at multiple recent incidents by multiple people.
Oh, and my shite thread was made sticky, and I think we all know who I was referring to when I made it.

What consititues post whoring? What can and can't we include?
Just so I know, is my shite considered post whoring?
:)
Grrr...
Right - the *amount* that anyone posts has never been a concern. Generally, neither has what has been posted.
However, when things are unsuitable for a public, family-friendly forum, we step in, with a reminder.

Ok, cheers. It was just that the term 'post whoring' came across as 'anybody who posts lots of rubbish' (well, at least it does to me! :D )
:)
sorry originality not my strong point, suppose i could have gon for shite threads the sequel ;)
Hmm, I personally define post whoring as posting for the sake of posting - ie just to get their name as the lost poster on all forums, or to get a post count up, or things like that. Your threads all have content in them, even if half of it seems to be from another planet... :p
The entire mallets mallets thread is one giant post whore, but as it's contained within one thread I don't mind. It's when it's happening across multiple threads that'll I'll step in.

Am I a post whore?????????? :ghey:
No, you are an ex whore :ghey:
Is there any need for such anal retentiveness? Moderation for the sake of Moderation....
I'm sure Feisty doesn't like being made an example of - why do I get the feeling that someone has an underlying problem with her? This thread in itself is utter BS that has been mentioned several times before elsewhere.
In her defence, she is actually clued up about cars & driving / takes an interest in several models of performance cars, especially jap, and knows all about them. Not bad for a girly, so why isn't she entitled to post what she likes in the chat section of a public car forum related to a car she has an interest in?
maybe i like my whores up against posts...

Er - neither she nor *anyone* else is allowed to post porn on this BBS. Irrelevant of gender, age, anything.

at the risk of an argument, I don't think that she has been explicitly, or implictly from the posts I've seen.
Everyone has jsut assumed stuff...
the mods are right - this is a public/open forum and as such shouldn't really have "unsuitable" material posted....
And Feisty - come back woman! Now! :)
Starionman has spoken - can you resist my pull??? ;) xx

but that would be to have conjunctions next to eac other, essentially conjoining each other.
I'm not sure about your point Steve, but I'd be happy to be enlightened... As far as i ever knew, no two conjunctions should be put next to each other, unless they are denoting subclauses.
For instance:
Computers are very useful things and, for those who are familiar with their inner workings, can perfomr complex calculations in an instant.
The "," comes after the "and" to denote a sub clause. I don't think that you can have them the other way around, but I'd be interested to see a "proper english" example of this...

although seeing as proper means "approripriate" according to the CED, it could conceivably be used in this instance.
Although I conceed that correct is correct as the menaing of proper has disappeared into a more colloquail status.
although, having said that, "correct" is actually a verb form. So it's a little woolly although accepted.
correct - "to make right" acc. CED. Transitory verbs... buggers...

to make matters even worse, correct is also legitimately used as an adjective.
So it is a transitory verb and an adjective.
However, athough "proper" may not be accepted under standard english conventions, I think that it should be - because proper also means "by convention" etc although it has a slightly different meaning to correct.
I really think I should go to night school and do an english langauge A level rather than the Lit I was forced to do...

2nd attmpty in 98, I got a D
3rd attempt in 99, I got a ......
D :censored:
Nevermind, at least I had a fit teacher in 98 and 99 :)
I think the standard of English in the younger generation is shocking !
Takeaway near me paid £300 to have " Francos Pizza's " written on his car. Italian muppet :D
D on my first attemt at a GCSE which was all corse work
C on the second attempt by the grase of god. This one I had to do exams to get it. Ive never sweated sooo much in my life. Deffinatly the hardest exams Ive ever done!
i got an A for english @ GCSE
In fact i did pretty fcukin well all in all :wack:
5 "a" grades
4 "b" grades
1 "c" grade
then A Levels
2x "a" grades
1x "c" grade
overall attendance of both school and college circa 40% :wack:
i got a C in english literature,
and a D in english language,
and a B in English speaking and listerning......
i did my G.C.S.E's in 1997, and i am considering doing an OU course in English Literature, after we move....
we've just accepted an offer on our house and should move in about 6 weeks:D :D
i've decided i want to do something whilst i'm at home with the kids :)
on the original topic, i believe that you need some "police-ing" to keep things in order but at the same time, you don't want to spoil things for members.... the biggest problem the mods have is there is such a fine line between the two........
I got an A at O Level for English Lang and English Lit and an A at A level English Lit.
Still can't fooking spell though
I got a D in English and just about everything else apart from science B & maths C................... If only I tried
I now have the teachers words "can do better" ringing in my ears now......... and the worst bit is................ they were right dammit

I just couldnt be arsed with school generally. If I wasnt interested I didnt get great grades, for instance I got

Spot on, I didnt get great results at school but that was because I couldnt be arsed with it rather than not being capable. I was always encouraged to read as a kid and used to read shite loads and still do. I think my spelling and grammar isn't too bad but the internet has sure made me lazy ;)
