I have finally melted the T25, and a replacement is not being easy to find. I think I can get a half decent T3 that doesnt smoke fairly easily. If I got the turbo, how much would that place charge to fit it where you had yours (or your mate or whoever he was!?) I remember you saying you had yours done for 400 quid including turbo. I could take all the bits off (manifold/exhaust) if the work could be done on them i can put it all back together. I'd need to know what kind of hoses I need for oil/water feeds and return as I dont think the standard ones fit. Also, I assume you had the cossie elbow/dump pipe (whatever its called) on the turbo aswell.
* the car is pretty much undriveable with all the smoke so i think i would have to take all the parts off and take them wherever. Can he do it?! huh pleaseee can he do it? looking at sometime in the next week / 2 weeks.
Thanks,
Dan.
I would have mailed you but its friday and i figured you are more likely to check this board than work stuff http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
Sorry I havnt replied until now Dan, I only get Net access when in work, and Ive been off Ill since Wednesday.
The bloke who did the car for me would need the car to do the work because its a sort of Custom fit he will need to line everything up, like exhaust, oil feeds etc.
He had my car for a week, the labour was £250 I think, but I also had to get a samco 90 degree hose, and the downpipe. If you are still interested, and the car is drivable enough to get up here (I can give you a lift back after dropping the car off, and to pick the car up again) then I can have a word with him, and get him to give you a ring, that way you know whats what and theres no need for a middle man.

Thanks Stu, Should have chose this week to be ill though, looks like its gonna be a hot one. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
Since I posted that, my situation has spiralled anyway, fitted a new t25 on saturday just to keep me on the road, the old one had 1 inch of end float. With the new turbo fitted, it is now apparent that I have either cracked piston rings or totally annihilated valve oil seals. It really is so bad its pretty much undrivable, Id be laughed out of an MOT centre http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif it smokes a tiny amount on boost, but thats probably residual oil in the exhaust, but on the overrun its 007 time.
A T3 now seems like a far cry away again, i even kicked the 200 as i walked past it to scrounge a lift to work today. At least my week old mongoose makes it look good on the driveway..
I'll hassle you again in a couple of months when the banks balance is something like normal again. I have sourced a low mileage engine this morning from a crashed S13. Hopefully, it should cure all my ills.
Did you get your wing fixed by the way?
Sorry to hear about the motor, good luck in fixing it though, at least you have a new motor for it.
I pushed the dent out a little yesterday, and it doesnt look quite so bad anymore. Still trying to get the cash though, but I think the lad is now avoiding me after myself and a few large mates had a few words when I saw him on Saturday.

You were decent enough by not going through the insurance for it, id be a bit annoyed at him myself. Just wind your xr2 up to full chat and park it in his drivers door or something http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif
As for the engine, its a big old job, but i cant see another alternative, I might be able to recoup the cash by repairing mine and selling it on afterwards. But id be lying if i said i was looking forward to the hassle.
Good luck with the wing, I keep my eye out for you when im around chester or the wirral, but i never see yer!
Why not fully rebuild the old engine? When cash permits get all the bottom end done, head etc, and then drop it back in, should be a real beast http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif maybe even get summut like a T3/4????
Just need to get the brakes sorted now, Matt_S has sold me all the gubbins for the bigger conversion (just waiting for Braided lines which are on their way), the o/s caliper is sticking like mad, and making the brakes squeal like a pig, oh yeah, and the car wont push more than 148mph http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif - on private roads of course!

big brakes! yummy. I had thought of totally rebuilding my existing engine for extra peace of mind if nothing else. But its the time off the road that would kill me, I still dunno how im going to get to work for the rest of the week! If the engine swap is a doddle i will rebuild mine and swap it back when its finished and sell the second hand one on again. Its messin me head up, making me miserable, I even went shopping with the GF yesterday and she was worried because i didnt mention the car all day. heh.

Hi Dan,
I'm in (almost) exacly the same boat. My engine is creamed but it works. But I can't see it being for much longer. Sump has started to leak (in addition to the rest of the problems) I have patched it up but I don't hold much hope for it.
I think I'm gonna get a new engine put in but keep my old one to recon myself. Seems the pricey way round but I have an inkling that I will need a spare. If not, like you say I can sell it, seems that anyone with an S13 shouild have 2 slabs.
It's just the arse of swapping them over, I can't do it myself.
I have asked intapart for a quote to fit an engine for me, I'll let you know what they say.

sfunny you should mention the sump, I have noticed something eerie about them lately, tend to rust alot, I have seen a few over the weekend all had suspicious amounts of rust in patches on the bottom, for something that tends to be covered in oil, strange really. Good luck with gettting yours done mate. Trouble free driving seems a long way off when its the planning stages dont it http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

Considering I have only owned a S13 for 6 days, I can't see there being a time where troulbe free motoring ever happens. This forum doesn't actually boost the confidence a great deal either.
The worst of it is everytime I try to do a job on the car something else happens, or I discover another nightmare.
To add to your kick, I punched mine last night as oil began to piss out of a hole that I missed when sticking 'Leak Fix' all over the sump, and yes it is very rusty. Seems very thin as well.
However, there great fun to drive aint they? Perhaps aswell really. I get my protected NCB in 5 weeks so I might burn it, and get another. Only jesting but very tempting.
I'm off to smoke everyone out up town now, and to get some pop rivits to do a more permanent job on the sump.

I only had mine about 2 months in total. Fortunately I saw the good side before the bad. I dont think they are more likely to break than any other car, its just everything is ultra sensitive to abuse after a life of tootling around. I modded mine before really looking into how good the engine was gonna cope with it. At least you are doing it now and hopefully the rest of your days in the 200 will smell of tyre rubber and the world will go past sideways http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

All being well, sideways it'll be, missus'll hate that.
A mate of a mate is about to 'lose' his 200 and he's stripping his hybrid, boost controller, exhaust and dump valve off first, so it looks like I may be in for some cheap mods.
Luckily despite my problems (car's not mine personally) it doesn't seem to be down on power at all, but if it is I can't wait to get it fixed.
Made it to town and back without incident, no more oil slicks in Tesco car park, I parked in the space next to the one where I left about a litre on Saturday. It seems to have spread out nicely.
Got my pop riviter now so my sump'll look like something from scrapheap challenge before long.
