In WinXP whereabouts in the registry are the view settings (details, list, icons, etc) for Windows Explorer?
Cheers,
Ben

Didn't think there was such a thing - thought it was just location in the left pane and key - value in the right:confused:

I thought you changed those settings in Windows Explorer under "view" and it remembers your last choice everytime you open it? :)
It does when you aren't using a crappy locked down Ford XP client... It doesn't let you access the Options menu in Explorer and defaults every folder to large icons...
If I can just write a .reg file to update it then I'll be sorted :)

Until you logout and back in and then the GPO will be re-applied again :(

that's alright - you can just add the path to the run area of the reg can't you?
Ben, it might be worth grubbing around in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer
rather than HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
oh and if you do make changes to the explorer properties in HKEY_CURRENT_USER you'd have to kill explorer (from the task manager) and restart it :wack:

Not if theres a policy removing the contents of Run every time you logon.
Ben you may find you're screwed. If they have policies setup then any changes you make to your reg entries may get removed on every logon anyhow.
