Hi all being a newly paid member and not having a clue what the weekender is about I thought I would ask, saw some of at japfest 2 last year but will it be in the same place and what else goes on? Also what prices involved?
Have a read through here, should give you a few ideas :) http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=514746
It's a different location again this year.. but pretty much to sum it up:
Weekend camping, lots of nice food, tracktime (doesn't have to be in a 200), drinking, lots of laughing
If you're new to coming to events with the club & don't know anyone, you're also able to bring a mate along with you :)

So what's the price of this? Will I require additional insurance for the track? Is there ability to take a small caravan? Might get a towbar for the 200 and use my mums caravan
Prices are TBA. It is stunning value for money for what you get
No additional insurance would be required to go on track, but obviously it is at your own risk. So don't drive like a tool and you will be fine. :)
I don't think the prices have been announced yet -it's always really good value for money for the food and tracktime you get! :D
I don't think caravans will be allowed tbh! It's usually car and tent
Insurance will be up to you -most car insurance won't cover you for use on track, so you'll need to get trackday insurance if you want to be covered.

That's cool will just buy me a big tent, having no rear interior is a bonus sometimes, can just chuck it all in, so food is provided all weekend so just bring clothes, accommodation, beverages, sounds good
Yup, part of the fun is the camping :)
Main meals will be catered for, but you might want to bring snacks a few other bits to munch on.
So yeah, tent, clothes, snacks, drinks, car, and yourself plus partner or friend if you like

Doubt I bring my wife as we got 2 kids as well and wouldn't have sitters all weekend

I always wanted to take a caravan to Prescott for comedy reason's, but normally had the Westfield in tow.
Hate to think what you lot would have done to it if I had :wack:

Yeah, but it wouldn't have been my caravan - I would have woken up in the road/another farm :wack:
The weekender is absolutely brilliant fun, best event of the year and always great craic. I'm gutted I can't make it this year! Would recommend it to anyone!

definately :D
i cant wait, im well excited. Something im really looking forward to.
The weekender for me is about meeting new people, chatting with old friends and having a good laugh :D and thats from a non drinker :D
If you have never been its always the best and my favourite car show all year. Great food and great people :D and if you're really lucky, channie will set himself on fire again, Ghazoobe will have a small accident in his tent, and JP will be sick all over someone or in a bucket whilst hugging a tree :D.
definately :D

End of the day mate, come along, introduce yourself to us, and you'll be more than welcome :)
Has the catering situation changed then? Last time I went (09) people were struggling to get food at times, certainly wasn't a free for all.
Didn't really matter as most people had food anyway but was just wondering. Especially if someone decides to rely on it.

i rely on the food every year. I've never gone hungry at any of the Weekenders or Events the SXOC has put in.
There wil be a schedule this year, so meal times will be planned, and everyone made aware: what time and whats on the menu's well in advance. :D
i dont remember 2009 being an issue with food though? probably cos i was ruinning round liek a headless chicken doign stuff :D
It's usually a 14 hour journey for me and a 1400km round trip. I've being to the weekender for the last two years and making ferry enquiries today to attend this years. I think that speaks for itself how good the weekender is for me.

I can honestly say the food is one of the highlights for me. Chilli, kebabs, curry, meatballs, wraps, car-be-qued burgers, sausages, bacon, ribs, chicken is what i've had off the top of my head. The food does be truly awesome :smitten:

Or Joematose at prescott :wack:

Cheeky ****!!!!
Id offer to look after you Will but last year i was a liability and Essex&Kent looked after me haha. The key is not to get so drunk the night before the track day that while youre supposed to be at your driver briefing youre back at the campsite still chucking your guts up lol.
Gonne be a goodun this year, im looking forward to it. Particularly if i get the V8 in and it survives driving to Le Mans and back!

Plus there will be a NW convoy leaving from M60 Birch Services, so you don't even have to fidn your own way there :-)

The food at the weekender 09 was awesome, fry's chili is eppic! We had to wait for it to be cooked at times but I'd prefer to wait rather then the alternative :hurl: definitely no shortage though. (Baring in mind we came from Ireland and only bought crisps in tesco's for snacks while drinking)
I've never had an issue food wise!
I usually take drinks and a few snacks and then main meals off the BBQ or whatever :) There has always been plenty to go round! :)

details are to be finalized, but the plan i believe is to have both drift and grip stuff :D
im not 100% sure on exact split or details, but Algie is due to put up a thread soon with booking and information about the whole weekend.
It's shaping up to be a really good weekend, im not jsut saying that because im staff, but as a member im really excited about it :D
