That was the first and single thing that came into my mind....

Seriously how many R35's are dead already... god knows how many older s-bodies have been broken then!!!

Out of interest, roughly how much would one of these cost? Must be 3k+?

I'd imagine you could double that and keep going

There was one for sale at awsomefest they wanted 9k for it. I thought the engines were built for each car and the gearboxes are made for the specific engine it gets fitted to????

Really!? I Dont belive that! They might and i say might have some unique calibration work done to the box / engine cal but can you imagine plant complexity and manufacturing complexity, tooling costs and general ED&T bill!

We are looking to re manufacture the bell housing on a certain ford to incorporate a larger diameter DMF+Clutch. The re-tooling alone is coming in at $780,000 not to mention the cost of adding an additional part to the assembly line. This will only go on the high power engine.

The boxes would have to have a unique casting and block casting it just doesnt make any sense.

Talking of gearboxes though where would you find one of these!?

Tell us the price then!!! Everyone wants to gawp`

That would be a hellish conversion the gearbox its a auto and made for a AWD. I Think the whole engine made for the gearbox just means the boxes are programmed for each engine :)

The electrics that control the R35 would drive even martin B insane :)

Out of interest how much would just the engine be?

the engine and box combo is uniquely aligned to each chassis to allow for microscopic variances and to allow ultimate balancing

There recall engines, do a bit of research there was a big recall in Europe.
Z33 box should mount up with not much bother, also z33 fly wheel will go straight on. They can do 600hp on stock turbos! Was seriously looking into fitting one of these to my v35 when I built it, but worked out too much more than the JZ.

Makes more sense.

So how much these engines Guna be then. Recall cheap ones yer :)

Does anyone know the spec of these engines ? What kind of technology these got ?

There have already been RWD conversions, I believe Blitz did the first one :)

I'd like to see one swapped into a 350Z

As Polo said, there was a big recall in europe for these engines due to bearing damage/failure.

We've completely stripped a couple of these engines and found them to be in perfect condition, so its an awkward one to say really.

When selling these we always stipulate they must be stripped down and checked, and provisionally new bearings installed.
