View Full Version : The SXOC Weekender 2012.... (Part2) Plus a competition
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=74511&stc=1&d=1318284275
It's competition time (members only ;) ), I have a sneaky feeling that this won't take long so the first person who posts a correct answer on this thread wins a goody bag (Staff you know you're not allowed to enter :whip: )
first clue...
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/n8rsd/guessthecorner.jpg
I'll be amazed if this lasts more than a few minutes but if no one gets it then there will be another clue next weekend
So what else can I tell you,
You should already know by now that we have our own track for a whole day and use of the site and facilites for the whole weekend (Friday to Monday).
We've got loads of great events and entertainment planned and Cornwall has already come up with some cracking suggestions for our menu for the weekend.
So now it's over to you folks,
Who can guess the location first?:thumbs:
Good luck :sxoc:

Well done Daz, Mark has a 'special' goodie bag for you :D:D:D
So what does that mean for the rest of us?
We're hiring Blyton Park for the weekend (6th - 9th July 2012) next year and have exclusive use of the track there for the whole of Saturday 7th July.
We will have a number of oopen pit lane track sessions and drift time available :thumbs:
Oh Daz........ you never asked what was in the goody bag
Included in the prize is also an evening trapped in a box with Ken. He'll be naked
:ghey:
Lou, I'm sure Daz will donate his prize to you, knowing how much you want to be in a box with a naked Ken:thumbs:

You two nearly made me leave the restaurant the other week when you were quizzing me on where it was! Ben was convinced it was at somewhere like Mallory then, in the same breath, the conversation turned to Blyton and what a great place that is!! I was cracking up at the 'innocent' chat about the virtues of Blyton.

Oh, I'm going to ask this now before I forget. Taking photographs around the circuit, are there many spots for it and will we be allowed? I've got a £1million PLI.
Best places for photos will be twickers and lancaster as they have raised banks but the whole thing is flat soyou should be good anywhere really

Awesome. I didn't know if they allow access round to the other parts of the track or not though.
They might have thier own photoists that weekend so i can't comment. The photograpers taking pics when i went did wander but were mainly at twickers (on the outside of the corner in prime twatting location if you fcuk it up), lancaster (on the bank) and near the marshalls post at the wiggler
Bunga Bunga would make a good spot especially for the dori sessions

awesome as the Jeep is... project:nod:
distance is nothing:) the track and facilities at Blyton are spot-on for us, and it's guaranteed to be a good do. it's really open so you can push pretty hard. i've been in the Jag, and it was fun:)
well done Algie:sxoc:

Is there plenty of space to spin out fairly safely? As I seem to spin on track :wack:

yeah, you can see from Mel's 2nd pic that the tarmac has been added to the previous concrete airfield, so there's room there if you get it wrong at a lot of the corners. the only tyrewall/thing to hit i can remember was at Lancaster, but tbh i think you'd really have to be pushing it out of the Ump:).
Nice looks like there are places for my 172 to coc up its rear wheel and be all lift off oversteery !
Anyone know what the deal is with db levels for track, and if it's just a static one or other db meters on track etc?
Didn't do static and i didn't see any out

yep, Javelin didn't noise-test:no:
i think their (Javelin's) blurb was anything under 105dB was ok. i'd need to double check though.
because of the location, we're pretty much ok in terms of noise police as long as we don't take the pi55:)

im sure it was 105db, but wasnt particulary strict, but we'll let the Events guys confirm eitherway.
I pretty sure il be fine on the static, But would fail on track. But from what you lot are saying it sounds I should be fine.

Lots of excitement in the thread, any news on the costs? It's got me interested for the track but would like to know how much the day is, if there's V-Power fairly local and if the circuit time is going to be split between people into grip driving and drift premadonnas.
Thanks!

Thanks very much, I'll stay subscribed although I appreciate it's quite early for specifics.

Going up Presscott hill in the Jeep a few years ago was nuts, doing anything on a track in a car will feel safe compared to that lol.

Hi folks,
I'm back at home again for the weekend (having no web during the weeks sucks :D )
It's awesome to see how much interest and support this is generating :D
I can promise you all it's going to be a proper awesome event, hopefully the best the SXOC has ever run ;)
I've run through the thread and I'll try to answer as many questions as I can with the limited time I have, if I miss anything just ask in here again and I'll catch up next weekend when life is back to normal
Daz,
It is my mission to get you round the track as club photographer if you'd like to do it, the main guy at Blyton (Richard) is really down to earth and I'm 100% happy he'll be able to sort us out, if you're up for it I'll get it sorted  :notworthy
Noise limts;
There is no noise limit at Blyton but they operate a voluntary 105db trackside limit on the start finish straight, again he's pretty laid back as long as we're not taking the piss, Ken's car is likely to be one of the louder cars on track and he was happy with it when we explained what it was. It may mean the odd car getting black flagged and asked to ease off a little on the straight so we just need to be sensible
We'll be having places for 80 cars on track during the day, that will be split between drift and track.
I'm still finalising what the split is going to be and how we're going to run it.
As soon as I have some definite info for you all it'll be going up in here (or part three depending on where we are
Cheers

What is a V35?
Normally any road legal car is welcome.
If it's not RL it depends a lot of the venue's rules.

If it's not RL it depends a lot of the venue's rules.
I will be SERIOUSLY disappointed is there's a problem with non RL cars, don't see why there would be unless it's differnet to any other trackday?
Dunc.
Dunc, I have no reason to suspect there will be a problem, but Prescot Hill insisted on road legal and MOTed only. (My point was just that it was taken out of our hands at that venue.)
I'm sure someone from Events will check, but I'd expect a race track to be different. However, I'd suspect every car would have to be safe and pass scrutineering.

Think that would have been due to the public return road, or indeed their rules.
My car's eligible for every trackday in the counrty to the best of my knowledge so I'm certain it'll be fine for the weekender, I see your point though it's up to them to make the rules  I'll not be the only non-road registered car though I'd imagine?

Non road legal cars won't be a problem lads but there will be a requirement for them to be in good working order (I know endurance race cars test there which aren't road legal ;) )
